Kobe 08 vs Celts in the Finals. Do we need to go there, even though the Lakers were clearly more loaded than the Celts.

    Mos Def Dirk

Do some of y'all actually watch games or just simply hate?

    Dirk numbers that season were:

25 points 9 boards and 3.5 shooting 50% from the field and 90% from FT

    All NBA first team

    What more did he need?

not when you consider the person making the statement. its still stupid but you can understand/ignore.

if the thread title had been "which NBA player got the crustiest toenails?" that ? woulda said kobe

    Agreed

Aint sayin Dirk had a sad year. But by MVP standards gettin knocked out 1st round by an 8th seed is sad

Warriors played better that series against the Mavs defensively and offensively plus the series caused a lot of match up problems.

Give Stephen Jackson some credit he played good defense and made it difficult for Dirk on all levels.

Regardless during the season he played to his potential and deserved that MVP award.

the mvp is a regular season award. BUT the nba finals and playoffs decide who won the season

Greg oden has had sad seasons
the Obannon brothers had sad seasons
sebastian telfaif and his big cousin had sad season
kwame doodoo brown had sad seasons

Consider for 1 second that every game in an 82 game nba season is played for 1 goal and 1 goal only. to win that nba finals that happens after the 82 are played.

    whats worse to you?
1)being on top of the world and falling off? (dirk)
2)never knowing what winning feels like? (kwame and those you mentioned)
3)being the best during a wasted season? (mvp's that do not get their team to the promised land)
4)getting challenged by going up against the runner up and getting beaten or humiliated (david by hakeem, karl by jordan)

As soon as I saw the title I knew this was another simpleton thread about nash

Turning your team from 29 w's to 61 = Mvp then next season losing stoudemire for the season and gettin 54 w's again = Mvp

Just like the cavs went from 61-21 last year and are currently 8-38 its obvious why they fell off

wow a simpleton thread about nash? really? he's one example of a bad mvp award.
why don't u consider the obvious about the phoenix suns. amare without nash, the suns made the playoffs and gave the spurs fits. nash without amare, the suns aint ? . amare on the knicks, homie is puttin up mvp numbers and carrying a team, and making people take notice of another pg, raymond felton.

who was really the ? mvp on those suns teams? yeah the 54 win season was impressive but would you have taken nash over duncan, dirk, dwayne or even kobe of that year????

turnaround doesnt mean a player deserves an mvp either, or else just maybe jason kidd woulda won it once or twice

no hate for nash, but he was gifted those mvps, especially when you consider how other pg's statistically stack up against those mvp seasons
