The answer to the thread title is a resounding YES as there are currently 26 nations represented by members of the IC (and their guests.)
Here's a list of our nations from a recent survey that revealed the most "extremist" states.

I think maybe we did this several years ago, I don't remember.
Basically, it's fantasy politics.
Update: After creating your nation, go to your "region" page. It should be "(something) Pacific" by default. Find the link that says "Tired of life in (your region)? Then move to a new region!"

NationStates is a nation simulation game. Create a nation according to your political ideals and care for its people. Or deliberately oppress them. It's up to you.

basically you can set the pace of the game any way you want
your nation changes based on how you respond to issues that get "telegrammed" to you
you can set it to only get one telegram a day or like ten, i think

How do I change the answers I gave before creating the nation? I shouldn't have said that capitalism was on it's way out. I just want it regulated. -

I'm not sure if you can change those initial ones.
All I know is that I outlawed private enterprise but somehow it's still half my GDP.
