Why are the NBA rules so strict on protecting referees?

The technical fouls and fines are wack. Why are players prohibited from questioning the accuracy and neutrality of the refs when they do ? like this?
This ? has to stop. The ref/player relationship right now is like mother/child as if to say "Cause I'm yo mama that's why".
