Happy 14th Birthday "Life After Death", does this album ever get old????

As Biggie Month comes to an end. We celebrated the 14th Anniversary of his Death. We found out the baby from that Classic Cover from his debut not only wasn't Biggie but he's a 18 year kid from the Bronx who's in High School. Now today March 25 marks the 14th Anniversary of the release of one of the greatest rap albums of all time:

This album passes every threshold for Classic Status. It's Classic Status is not debatable at this point. 14 Years later you can pop this in and it sounds like it was made yesterday. It is still ? on Rap albums till this day. Big dropped an Atomic Bomb on the Game. Here is my Song by Song Review of each song. I'll use the Source Mics to Rate each song:

Disc 1 - THE LIFE DISC

Had to spark one up and bump this straight through today, still amazing all these years later. Big really cemented his Legacy with this album. So which is your favorite Disc? I think Disc 1 is stronger for sure but Disc 2 ended so strong it's a hard choice.

    yea man this is the true meaning of hip hop classic....its one of them cds I bump every 2 or three years and feel like I'm listening to it for the first time......it just has mad layers to it....

    disk 1 was hard core ignorant ? type ? .......disk 2 was more heartfelt like honest and reflective ? type ? ......."The milk was chocolate/the cookies/butter crunch"........

    It just depends on how u feeling at the time.....they both got they own vibe to them

    Well Biggie was on his 2 LP, Tupac was on his 4th, Bone was on their 3rd. Wu was on their 2nd as a group but dropped mad solo LP's in between that album and Master P was like on his 4th or 5th at that point. The fact Biggie bodied 2 disc on his 2 time up to bat was like him winning back to back championships. This disc top to bottom is Classic and I still laugh at dudes trying to throw rocks at this masterpiece. Is it perfect? Of course not, no double disc is but it's the Closest to perfect a Double Disc can get in Hip Hop.


    Some Interesting "Life After Death" Stats:

    *It made the Largest Jump in Billboard 200 Chart History when it jumped 178 spots to #1.
    *"Hypnotize & Mo Money, Mo Problems" made Biggie the only artist to have more than one Posthumous #1 single
    * Guinness Book of World Records entry as the 1st ? Rap Album to be certified Diamond, Highest Certified East coast and New York album ever

Pac killing him on everytrack on AEOM while he rapping about ? on childrens chests, ? them in the ass and tossing them over the bridge.
    nothing is classic about LAD. and you sitting there talking about lyricism like biggie was somekind of ? feared rapper. GTFOH. jada and jay z at him on this album. mase too. LAD has no harder quotes than what deck dropped on triumph. biggie was not flowing out his mind like Ghost, Rae and Deck did on wu forever. RZA productions ? all over them 80s hits rip off beats that were on LAD. LAD aint no ? classic.

    It's a tough debate. I think "Ready To Die" is more represents the "Old School becoming New School" and "Life After Death" represents "The Future". I go back and forth with which one I love more but I think "Ready To Die" is the better album for what it did for Eastcoast/New York Hip Hop. But it's hard, you can clearly see the influence of "Life After Death" even in today's music. Ready To Die is pure, raw and uncut Biggie (Neo when he 1st got to the Matrix). Life After Death (Neo after he mastered the Matrix) Biggie had the "Glow" as Jada said. I consider the albums like Hip Hop's Finest "Trilogy" since it's 3 Disc. I like what Jay Said about both albums:


    "Ready To Die was before the success and the struggles of life, Life After Death was after the success and what comes with that success good and bad, he didn't sugar coat either view. He really did give you both perspectives"

    Randy Badazz Alpert: "Over the years I was approached by Ice Cube, Easy E, Vanilla Ice, and maybe another 4-5 artists to use the song and I never said yes until I heard a rough version of Biggie's recording. I was sent a cassette from Puffy and when I cranked it up I not only immediately loved it but my gut thought that this could be a #1 record once again. The original 'Rise' record climbed the chart all summer and became #1 around the end of October. Biggie's version was released and charted its first week at #2 and went to #1 the second week."

    LOL @ "Nobody Bumps This" cause albums that go DIAMOND sit on shelves and collect dust, lol. It's 14 years later and people talk about how they will never get tired of this masterpiece. "LAD" Singles still get play till this day. And I already discussed this in another thread, Why did "LAD" get certified Diamond before "AEOM"??? hmmmmmmmmmm.

    Biggie went Diamond on his 2nd LP at the Beginning of his Career. Comparing him to Pac on his 4th LP doesn't really fly. Both LP's are CLASSIC but to me Big was better on his Double Disc, he experimented more with production and styles. A song like "Notorious Thugs" shows you how versitle Biggie was on his double. Pac wasn't doing no midwest flow on his album.

    ? all you johnny come lately LAD dickriders. yall dont know ? about 97 to even call this album a classic. quick question. how is it a classic when all you ? in here woofing about disc 1 better than disc 2. AEOM can play straight through. WTF can play straight through. Tru 2 Da Game can play straight through. i dont care about no diamond certification or no #1 singles because the album is fuled by full samples of previous funk hits. LAD was nothing but a double disk of 80s funk karaoke and adlib style. none of the hooks on the albuim were original. everything was bitten. so ? no this album wasnt classic in 97. dont mention LAD in the same breath with War Report. hell no LAD aint ? with wu tang forever. hell no LAD aint ? with Silent Weapons. LAD cant even compare to Harlem World. LAD damn sure aint harder than Chapter 1 or Tru 2 Da Game. just cause the ? dead dont mean we gotta hold this ? up like a beacon. nate dogg died. i havent read one g funk classics 13th anniversary does this album get old thread from you. ? sit here and talk about whats your phone number. no album with garbage ass songs like another ? and nasty boy can be called a classic. what about that tone deaf player hater song. ghost just showed delphonics crazy love on ironman with a actual hook from them. biggie ? all over one of the greatest soul tracks with him cease and puff having 4 play on the mic before a ? orgy. LAD wasnt ? in 97 and aint ? now.

    And besides he on;y had two albums to choose from so why not get his newest one.

    Pac sold more albums overall.
