DJ alleges beating by group of officers

HYANNIS (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A DJ from the Cape says he was attacked by a group of law enforcement officers at a restaurant in Hyannis.
With bones fractured and his face bruised, Duane Alves said he was trying to help out a group of women.
Alves’ attorney said the group of men responsible for the beating are either officers or agents attending a local law enforcement conference that happens once a year on the Cape. The federal drug enforcement agency, the DEA, and the Barnstable police are both investigating.
Alves was DJing at the Steakhouse Sports Bar in Hyannis when he says he was jumped by eight to 10 men. He says some non-uniformed officers were ? and disrespecting a group of women. When he said something, they jumped him.
Alves says bouncers were trying to help but the group was blocking them. Alves said things got worse when he tried to leave. He says a group of about 30 officers blocked all the exits from the outside and every time he tried to take one, they hit him.
The 2011 New England Narcotics Enforcement Officers Association is being held in Hyannis.
