I never knew that someone questioned Kanye being better than Dre at producing. But I still cosign this thread
dre has been making the same 5 beats since the chronic
all his ? sound like circus music
I agree. When it comes to quality, Kanye's best work matches up perfectly with Dre's G-Funk/Deathrow production. So it boils down to consistency and quantity... which Kanye has excelled in both.

Plus, Dre actually made "Hi, My Name Is" beat. That ? was Laffy Taffy before Laffy Taffy even existed.
*in before someone mentions that Kanye sampled Dre's drums*

We've heard enough leaks from Detox to make an entire album. That ? was terrible, which is why he's not even producing the entire thing anymore.

Eminem as a producer >>> Dre

that's why Dre had Royce Da 5'9" blackballed. His manager told the truth. Em was just a lil cracka but sat Dre down like a student in the studio. Look at the production credits for SSLP and you see what I mean.

Yuup, that's what started the Em and Royce beef. It's crazy cause Dre never said it didn't happen, he just got mad at Royce and his manager.

    Black Milk > Dre

Stoupe the enemy of Mankind > Dre

Dre's still dope those his work speaks for itself but he just doesn't have it like he used to, he used to be at the forefront of music sonically and could dictate where the game was going behind the boards...now.....not so much

I'd be willing to go song for song with both dilla and madlib, they're better I think there sound is much more diverse. I think Dre's more recognized for his mixing than anything i can tell a beat that Dre had his hands in from the instant it comes out of the speakers regardless of the instruments used or the key signature

What exactly did Royce's manager say I've never actually been able to find out from anybody

    both dilla and madlib

These ? play(ed) multiple musical instruments, more especially the latter

And their production wasn't redundant like Dre

He said that Eminem sat Dre down in the studio like a student... teaching him ? about producing. Dre didn't like all that truth telling so he tried to get Royce to fire his manager and Royce wouldn't do it.

I like Kanye's work and all but

speeding up old soul samples and looping them over and over shouldn't be considered masterful. Not to mention he imitated that style from RZA on his work from Wu-Tang forever. He isn't groundbreaking any new sounds like Dre did, he hasn't produced as many classic albums as Dre (and company of course). But who's to say Kanye does all his beats by himself? He doesn't.

Do you realize that ALL of Hip Hop was predicated on the DJ sampling old records?

Dre as a producer is leagues ahead of kanye, his product is always Top quality, even his wack songs

Kanye as a beatmaker is better, but as a producer he has put out some wack songs over the last few years,

Dre has produced so many anthems, i cant even front, even though he is a ?

Also i feel Dre is ahead because of his experience...if you look at how many hit records Dre is behind you'll have to give it up for him
