which books do you suggest a brother get debunking religion

    The Bible, the Vedas, the Qur'an, etc.

    Those would be a good place to start.

    For starters:
    A History of ? by Karen Armstrong

    The Bible: With Sources Revealed by Richard Elliot Friedman

    Who Wrote the New Testament? by Burton Mack.

    Assuming you're coming from a Christian background, its also really interesting to read the Jewish Pentateuch and then compare the translation to the King James Old Testament. Reading and learning about some of the books excluded from the Christian Bible is also really interesting, and helps add some historical context. But nothing beats sitting learning the Bible itself. You can't seriously "debunk" something that you aren't fully familiar with.

    Co-sign, for the most part, but some of the people and places in these religious books did and do exist. The whole notion of any of there Gods or methods being totally factual is what has not been proven
