If you compare BP and Dre2001 mix, only one of them albums sounds dated
Dre2001 is the staple for hip hop mixing engineers, people to this day still compare there mix to that album....
GRODT and The Documentary are beautifully mixed albums, BP doesnt even come close -

Technically, GRODT had better engineering, But BP's beats were better.
GRODT was the most hyped up debut in the 00s.
The Blueprint help birth the most hyped rivalry of the 00s, people are still arguing between Takeover and Ether! lol.
Both albums are great, but GRODT just isn't top 5 material to me. Probably 6-7. -

Just because the album is mixed poorly doesnt mean the beats are wack or the album is wack
BP is horribly mixed as pointed out by Jimmy Douglas (who himself mixed a song on the album, but was not happy with the other mixes) Tony Dawsey (who mastered BP and complained about some of the mixes peaking and he had a horrible time trying to fix the mistakes) to name but a few great mixing and mastering engineers
so when talking about sonics BP is a horrible example because it had to many different engineers, so the product varied from song to song....
the Black Album is Jayz best mixed album, which was mastered by Tony Dawsey
But sonically albums such as Dre2001, GRODT, The Documentary and even Deeper than Rap are in a different league....that doesnt mean the album is any better, simply means one is mixed better and the other isnt -
