1-year contract....what yall thk?
Plaxico Burress spurns Giants for Jets
Adam Schefter reports this Sunday morning that free-agent receiver Plaxico Burress has signed a one-year, full-guaranteed, $3,017,000 contract with the New York Jets.
There had been much chatter this week about Burress, who was released from prison last month after serving two years for firing an unlicensed gun in a New York nightclub, possibly returning to the Giants, with whom he won the Super Bowl four years ago. Burress had said unflattering things about Giants coach Tom Coughlin in a post-release interview, but the Giants made a push to sign him anyway and he met with Coughlin on Friday night at the team's training facility in New Jersey.
But Burress never backed off his comments, and all along I told you I believed he was only using the Giants' interest as leverage to get what he wanted from a team whose coach he didn't dislike. He visited the Steelers on Saturday and apparently had some nice conversations as well with the Jets, who are cutting ties with Braylon Edwards and needed a replacement.
There had also been some discussion about Burress and the Eagles, since the Eagles seem to be signing everyone in the world and Burress was very public about his desire to play for them. But there was never any indication from the Eagles that the interest was mutual.
As for the Giants, their interest in Burress likely had something to do with Steve Smith's knee injury and the fact that they still haven't re-signed him. The Giants losing out on Burress could help Smith's leverage and/or ? the Giants to look at Edwards or some of the other wideouts still on the market.
Regardless, while the Giants were interested in Burress, it doesn't look as if he was really ever interested in returning to play for them.

34 years old and has no football legs. Did you see how Vick looked when he came out? Now imagine a less athletic individual. -
The Jets now have to get Plax on the field and see where his condtioning is at. Rex will be good at working with Plax and bringing him along slowly. Plax should be thanking Nnamdi cause if the Jets make that deal Plax doesn't stay in NY. This is good for the Jets. Now if they can sign Todd Heap and bring back Cromartie they would've gotten all those guys instead of signing Nnamdi.

lmao @ whoeverf thought Plax was better than Edwards at this point. ? outta here.

It's not that Plax is a better at this point. It's that if Plax is in good shape and can contribute. He's bigger than Edwards with better hands and is a cluth performer. I think it's perfectly fine to put him as #2 to Holmes, if he's in shape. -

Edwards didn't drop a thing for NY and blocked just as well. He was a great number two. Remember that clutch catch against the Texans? -

Dog I'm a Jet fan. You're gonna sit here and tell me Braylon Edward NEVER dropped ? , let alone TD passes? -

You want to see playoffs TD drops. I got those too. Fast forward do 1:35. These and the off the field problem are why Edwards isn't signed yet.

T.O. & Moss >>>>>>> Plaxico
Past Present and Future.. The Vick experience helped Plax out immensely.. I'm still not sure what kinda production u will get from him.. I say no more than 48 catches maybe 800 yards... T.O. and Moss could have 1000 yard seasons still, especially Terrell Owens knee issue or not he's still 1 of the best conditioned athletes in sports -
plax should've went to pittsburgh
-
lol @ anybody thinkin' Plax is gonna be worth anything more than the vet minimum. I wouldn't be surprised if he was released or traded within the year.
-
hard to be sold on Plax, for right now he is just a name, I think he will be a bust like Haynesworth, but thats why Im a Phins fan.

3 mill for maybe 4 catches a game?
-
Bad movie by Plax.Sanchez will not be able to get him the ball and the Jet's are more of a running team (like the old Ravens) than a passing team.If Philly was talking to him then he should have signed there. If not then resign with the Giants or Pitts (glad he didn't) again.

Out of the 3 Plax was the one that did not choke in the Super Bowl and carried the Giants offense that year.So I strongly disagree.
