    Free Lossless Audio Codec.

It's the only format of music I listen to, ? is high-quality. A FLAC song is usually 20-30MB.

if you make cd's from the ? you download, its the way to go.

wav. quality + no spaces between the tracks = win

just so you know most mp3 players do not support the format and you need a plug in most of the time for you burning software to make cd's from them.

other people should learn to use google or find another source. Dont see the point of asking questions when you could easily figure out the answer on your own.

I rather depend on other people than google.

Basically it is a lossless file. You know how mp3 get compressed but WAVs don't, well FLAC is like a WAV only sightly compress to be smaller than a WAV w/o losing the quality like with an mp3. Having it is a trade off....it takes more space on your hd but you get better quality, and some ppl don't even notice the quality difference but it's there.

There are other lossless formats like WAV and I know apple has one as well, I forget what the format is though. Not all players (like itunes) support it. I know foobar2000 and winamp can play it.

How so? Space b/t tracks are determined by the info embedded in each track not necessarily the format that it is in.

it really doesnt matter. the human ear cannot tell the difference between 320kbps mp3's and wav files unless your system is insane. the only thing that sucks about mp3 format is the gap between the tracks. its 2010, you think they would fix that now. sony's atrac format had that worked out 10 years ago.
