I was trying to say that it is nerdy traits (other than smartness) that is partly responsible for their success. -
The thing about nerds is they're good at: getting money, being smart, and not giving a ? about what other people think is cool.
The only thing they're slacking on is getting laid - once they figure that ? out it's a wrap. -

There comes a time when you have to stop caring about what black people and anyone else thinks. If they think you're a "nerd", so be it, you'll be their boss in ten years anyways. Besides, anybody that still has to use the titles "nerd" and "lame", seriously needs to question their maturity. Don't dumb yourself down to fit in with losers, and don't be ashamed of your intelligence, just realize that you'll be making more money than they ever see in a lifetime. While you're purchasing a Picasso, the losers are doing time in prison. While they're working for Wal-Mart still at age 35, and they're stil trying to "rap", you'll be showing up in your new Mclaren. One thing you must realize my friend, is that most black people, will never be saved. They love to bask in, and love the sound of their ignorance. I don't think this is completely true. Kids make fun of geeky/nerdy kids because that's just what kids do. As far as everyone else, people tend to look out for the kids who are studious and well-behaved.

When you say "kids", what age are you referring to? Some people don't stop making fun of "nerds" until they're in their 20s, 30s -- and some probably never. In any case, black people can't afford to be doing that given how far behind we are. That kind of stuff has consequences. For example, some nerdy people might try to fit in and end up not fulfilling their potential. -

Up to mid-20's. I don't think the whole nerd issue is a big deal with grown Black folks. We might laugh if they have corny clothes or may be socially awkward, but not because they are smart. Even then it's a light-hearted sort of thing, we don't actually try to put the person down for being different. -

As I said before in this thread, it doesn't matter if it is because they're smart or not (and I never said it was because they're smart). And it doesn't matter of it is light-hearted or not. It has consequences. And stopping when you're grown is too late. -

not all nerds are smart dude...the term nerd is exactly what Fiat said...its the social attributes...i know some dudes that if u look at them you think they were intelligent but they arent they are just uncool,funny looking,lame socially inept people....but I know the question you are trying to pose...the answer is because in most other ethnicities the alpha male is the smart,intelligent,provider,the legitimately successful man ....meanwhile in the african american community the alpha male is the thug...the pseudo hyper masculine shoot muthafuckas in the face type ? ,the man who is cool for the now,Back in white was right "now" the avg. blk person doesn't care about the issues that they should or used to...contrary to his statement there was a time when black people sat around and talked about politics,science and things like that....in other words people cared about things other than the now and what was right in front of them...now it's the complete opposite most blk people dont give a ? about anything other than beer madden and hot wings...therefore we will continue to lag behind other races when it comes to scientific and social advances that actually matter in the bigger scheme of things
