Miles away from the place you lay
the ground turns your body to roots
your spirit is design in the sky
you was and still is living proof
of the days of a mother's touch
skinny at 5 made me fat by 6
home cooking with the trimmings
hot smothered gravy
chicken or pork chops with masted potatoes
hell you put the souls of the south to shame
a southern way of cooking with a eastern display
made me proud to live around the way
rep 27th and allegheny because of the love you gave
gifts and borrowing money til your life ends
loving and appreciating of your well being
running away from home to be with you
only to find you on the steps to show... you are here
never abandoned I for you are distant away with a beautiful stare
your rugged smooth skin rubbing my hair
at 8 to 10 miss them days I pray
it was like a perfect time to be young
without the struggles of night to sun
your body don't look like your spirit
never visit the grave site but change the flowers
words can't express how much I miss you
no woman could ever match thee
downtown you pay bills and we chill
pop pop and you walking while i was running
a toy on display I really need
you pay for it and I proceed
to open it while you say OH LAWD
late nights can't sleep you making tea
toast and thick butter
grape jelly while you spread the apricot
so gone but that day I prayed
and saw you there up in heaven
golden dress next to a man with no face
smiling with grace we sit and drink tea with ice cream
sugarless because it affects the bloodstream
even up there you look out for your well being
how is it like nanny? heaven 365/24/7
is it like the jasmine skies I see
the green pasture and water the color of rubies
crystal lakes and a church without repentance
animals that smile and food that replenishing
is it peace without fail
is it joy without trail
leading to madness
if you are reincarnated could you be a young lady
age 13 that needs guidance
but you can hold ya own no need for reminding
that you are a queen from here and forever
your body is no more but your spirit lives on
