Afghanistan has been conquered several times.

Alexander the Great cut a swath through it but did not conquer all of what we consider modern Afghanistan.

The Maryuan Empire conquered them completely around 100BC.

Mongols and Arab invaders have done the same.

If Afghanistan has an unconquerable rep it is from the Age of Imperialism since both Russia and Britain tried and failed to pacify the region.
