Nintendo has announced that 3DS has sold 5 million units in Japan quicker than any other console to date, according to Andriasang.
The handheld reached the 5 million mark in just 52 weeks - one year after its release on February 26, 2011. In doing so it breaks the record held by Nintendo DS, which took 56 weeks to reach the same figure.
What makes this even more impressive is that these are actual sales figures, not just the amount of units 'sold' to retailers.
