Ben Harris was filling a plastic keg with air to remove old beer on Tuesday when it burst, peppering him with shrapnel.

A newlywed and expectant father in New Hampshire was killed by an exploding beer keg.

Ben Harris, 26, a worker at the Redhook Ale Brewery in Portsmouth, was filling a plastic keg with air to remove old beer on Tuesday when it burst, peppering him with shrapnel.

“We are heartbroken by this tragedy and are grieving with the family,” the brewery said in a statement.

Harris had worked there since he left high school. His new wife, Alysha Miller, is a waitress at the brewery’s pub.

She told the Portsmouth Herald that he was thrilled that she was pregnant.

“His goal in life was to be a father,” she said.

May 1 - Man dies car accident -ThatHustle.com

Mary Moore, 45, and her son Thomas Olson, 22, died in separate car crashes that occured hours apart.

WEST ALLIS, Wis. — A Wisconsin woman and her adult son were killed in separate traffic crashes just hours apart in a Milwaukee suburb, police said Monday.

Mary J. Moore, 45, died after she was struck by a vehicle on a street in West Allis. A friend was speeding her son, Thomas M. Olson, 22, to the hospital to see her when he struck three parked cars and overturned, West Allis Deputy Chief Charles Padgett said. Olson was killed in the crash about 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

Padgett said Olson knew his mother had been hit, but he wasn't sure if Olson knew she had died.

"It's emotional. We want to get there fast and sometimes disregard our safety," Padgett said. "I use it to remind people that regardless of the circumstances, be aware of the speed."

The driver of the car OIson was riding in was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He and two other passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Moore was hit as she lay prone in the street. A motorist following the car that struck her told police it looked as though the vehicle hit a speed bump, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's report. The witness did not realize that it was a person until getting closer, the report said.

Padgett said Moore had been drinking before she was hit, but it's not clear how much. An autopsy on her body was expected to be done Monday.

The driver that hit Moore drove off, but officers later found and arrested the person they believe is responsible. That driver may also have been drinking, authorities said.

"In my 24 years (of law enforcement), I've seen a lot of strange things, but don't specifically remember a case like this," Padgett said.

    Super allergies, a worthy read:
Will 2040 be the year of the allergy apocalypse?

    By: Tim Barribeau

Climate change could mean that your allergies are about to go into overdrive. A new study suggests that by 2040, pollen counts will have doubled — that's a hell of a lot of sneezing and scratchy eyes headed our way.

The research is set to be presented by Leonard Bielory by at the Annual Scientific Meeting of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI), and Beilory believes that climate change is set to bring about longer and worse allergy seasons in the coming decades. In a release, he said:

Climate changes will increase pollen production considerably in the near future in different parts of the country. Economic growth, global environment sustainability, temperature and human-induced changes, such as increased levels of carbon dioxide, are all responsible for the influx that will continue to be seen.

After comparing data from 2000 to forecasts for 2040, Beilory and his team believe the average pollen count will skyrocket from 8,455 to 21,735, and peak pollen will move back from May 1 to April 8 — almost an extra month of misery.

Anyone want to go in with me on a hermetically sealed, anti-pollen living space? Alternatively — Mars?

Doctors save patient from deadly superbug by transplanting faeces through his NOSE

    By EMMA INNES

Doctors have used a radical way of curing the superbug Clostridium difficile in an 88-year-old man. Dr Robert Porter, at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, treated the man by pumping his daughter's faeces through his nose and down into his small bowel. He told MailOnline that this was the first time that the treatment - which is becoming increasingly popular - has been used at the hospital.

The treatment involves mixing stools from a donor - ideally a family member - with saline solution and transferring it by tube through the patient's nose. It is most effective in patients who have recurrent C. difficile and who have been treated with antibiotics so many times that they are no longer effective. It works because the solution contains 'good' bacteria which fight the infection. If successful, the patient starts to feel better almost immediately.

The treatment was first developed in 1958 but was rarely used. However, in 2011, a Dutch study published in the New England Journal of Medicine showed that 94 per cent of people with recurrent C. difficile could be cured using faecal transplants. This can be compared to a cure rate of just 31 per cent of people with recurrent infection who are treated with antibiotics. Dr Porter, a microbiologist and infection specialist, said: ‘These recent findings are so impressive and allowed us to develop the faecal transplant as something to take forward.

‘Using someone else's poo has an “ick” factor about it - it's not the think you would think of as the first think you would like to have. ‘People don't like the idea so it takes a bit of understanding as an option. ‘Even in the medical world, the topic is a bit of an eyebrow raiser and people are surprised to hear it's so effective. ‘But in recent years we've seen a rise in more aggressive forms of C. difficile and higher mortality rates, with standard treatments becoming less effective.’

He added: ‘One of the reasons this has not been particularly popular up until now is that we haven't had good studies to back it up. ‘Then we had an open trial in The Netherlands, which was stopped early because it was so effective compared to normal therapies. ‘An ethics committee ruled that it was doing so well it would be unfair to continue other methods. ‘It has given us the basis to say we have safe, scientific evidence that this is a very good treatment and very safe as well.’

    C. difficile is a bacterial infection that most commonly affects elderly hospital patients. It causes severe diarrhoea, fever and painful cramps. It can also result in life-threatening complications such as severe swelling of the bowel. Patients with recurrent C. difficile only have a 75 per cent chance of survival and are often ill for many months. Dr Porter said: ‘There's a distinct lack of downsides with faecal transplants. ‘It takes 20 minutes to enter the patient and they feel no sensation as it is transferred.

‘We tend to use family members as it's more palatable for people to think about their daughter's, husband or sister's poo inside them than Joe Bloggs in the street.’ This treatment was also used in October 2012 to save a 20-month-old boy with C. difficile. Jesse Williams was struck down the the infection and no conventional treatments managed to cure him. After nine months, doctors in his home town of Baltimore, U.S., decided to try treating him with a faecal transplant.

His mother, Tatum Williams, said he started to improve almost immediately. She said: 'Within two days, I saw changes. It was unbelievable. Now, he’s a typical two-year-old.'

Yellow Fever-Carrying Mosquito Species Discovered in California

    By: Gabrielle Bluestone

The yellow fever mosquito, also known as Aedes aegypti, has been buzzing around California, leaving larvae in Madera, Fresno and the Bay Area. The species is known to transmit yellow fever, dengue, and other diseases, but must first bite an infected person before it can spread disease.

So far, all of California's reported cases of yellow fever and dengue were determined to have been contracted out of the country, but authorities are worried. Florida has seen a massive mosquito-spread outbreak of dengue, and the West Nile Virus, also spread by mosquitos, has become a problem in California, with 275 reported cases this year.

The yellow fever mosquito is dark colored with white bands on its legs and apparently prefers to bite people indoors during the day. According to the Medical Daily, they need as little as a teaspoon of water to lay eggs, making it difficult to stop their spread.

Authorities are unsure how the mosquito arrived, but experts have suggested their appearance may be due to climate change or the presence of eggs in imported containers or vegetation.

Although very entertaining, a lot of today’? television shows actually have a negative effect on today’s youth and their parents. These television shows publicize very desirable lifestyles that most youth crave to live however do not put into perspective the challenges and solutions to those challenges that would enable one to repeat similar behaviors and encounter the same success. These shows in fact increase the crave for the money and fame, and society then contributes to the avenues that today’s youth take in an effort to have the money and fame. In addition to the lack of effective leadership in today’s society amongst our youth, these shows contribute to the developmental deficiencies among today’s youth and their parents which most of them are still in their youth themselves. Until the leaders and entertainers of today’s society realize their contribution to the disconnect within today’s youth with television shows such as empire, things will continue to get worse.
Support the campaign that is in a position to motivate today’s youth and even some of today’s adults to get up and stop contributing to everyone else’s empire so that they can position themselves to have their own.
****IF YOU ARE GOING TO WATCH THE SEASON FINALE OF EMPIRE TONIGHT YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS FIRST!!!!https://youtu.be/VdjvJZ13bjQ****
