Northern California authorities have launched a frantic hunt for a baby boy who disappeared 11 months ago with a transient mom arrested this weekend.

Mom Tanisha Edwards, 35, reportedly has given police conflicting stories about her 22-month-old son’s whereabouts.

The boy, named Dwight Stallings, was last seen by other family members in April of last year.

Officials said little Dwight might be living under a different, unknown name to hide him from Child Protective Services.

Authorities also are keeping some investigative information confidential saying the case might quickly turn into a death probe, a Sacramento County sheriff’s spokesman told the Daily News.

“The mom is unable to really settle in on one story about where her child is or what has happened to her child. We have not been able to get a straight answer,” Deputy Jason Ramos told The News.

“I can’t divulge what she’s saying. If it turns into death investigation, her statements could be evidence,” he said. “She’s given numerous conflicting statements.”

Edwards, who has a history of drug use, was arrested for a probation violation last week after CPS learned she was staying at her mother’s house in Elk Grove, Calif., cops said.

The boy’s grandmother later told police she hadn’t seen the child in 11 months, Ramos said.

“She didn’t tell me anything. She just said he’s with someone else or being baby-sat,” grandmother Barbara Edwards told News10 when asked what her daughter said over the past year.

Ramos said officials tried to check on the baby’s welfare five times last April but never found Tanisha Edwards at her address of record.

He said the “nomadic” mom then moved “all over the place,” and it wasn’t until CPS contacted Elk Grove with the grandmother’s address that they took Edwards into custody.

Tanisha Edwards is due back in court Monday afternoon, he said.

“This is such an untraditional way for us to commence a missing person’s case,” he told The News.
