As a child time seems to travel slow as ? /
then it speeds up once you’ve started growing up//
Elders give advice that is rarely understood/
I would often talk it down until I could come to look//
At the situation with perspective and experience/
Learning first hand seeing I had clearly missed//
A shot at potentially dodging the issue/
Instead I get into the problem, I’ve been through //
Hell, due to my attitude as a youth/
Disregarding claims made by people who slew//
The demons I was fighting or had conquered things I’m climbing/
I wanna blame my brain but it may have been the timing//
Lately I’ve been finding that knowledge can be blinding/
Especially when we’re young, it’s as if we prefer hiding//
From the truth cause ignorance is bliss/
And acceptance of these facts draws light to the ? //
That lurks in the shadows of our lack of education/
To the point where we get mad and attack a revelation//
Cause it threatens the security provided in the darkness/
To protect it we would fight anything, and to guard it//
We would sacrifice insight and illumination/
But it’s crazy and it’s almost like a mental mutilation//
Youth is the disease that heals with time/
Death is coming for me and I feel just fine//
