Props to capcom finally sponsoring a tournament with actual money, better late than never. I'ma be attending but only to spectate this time around. I'll probably get some matches in the salty suite and some casuals on the floor though.

Evo 2012 will feature 3 different live streams including HD PPV option, $10,000 annual scholarship for gamers announced Updated: MrWizard has mentioned via Twitter that the Evo stream chat will be for subscribers only.

Evolution 2012 is right around the corner and thousands of fans will be watching world wide. Evo 2012 will have three different streams running simultaneously to cover everything Evo related.

This year marks the first Evo event to offer a high definition pay-per-view stream option. The stream will broadcast in 720p and is completely optional.

All of the proceedings from the HD PPV stream will go toward an annual $10,000 Evo college scholarship for gamers that is being formed by Inkblot over at Shoryuken. The $10,000 will be awarded to a student studying toward a degree in game design, game development, or computer science.

If you choose to not purchase the HD PPV stream, IPlayWinner and Team Spooky will be running their coverage of the event. Also, for those who would like to check out the panels this year, a third stream is being provided that will cover all of the panels at Evo 2012 and will showcase some behind-the-scenes footage as well.

Lastly, Shoryuken and Twitch.TV have banded together to create a custom player that will allow viewers to watch all 3 streams simultaneously. This player will offer multiple custom stream layouts and the full streaming schedule.

    Via Shoryuken.

EVO 2012 tournament preview, July 6-8

    03_evopreview.jpg

The biggest fighting game tournament of the year is happening this weekend. EVO 2012 will be taking place once again in Las Vegas Nevada, and this is a can't miss event — period.

There's a lot happening at this tournament, with three separate feeds for viewers at home, online brackets and much, much more.

To see a list of top players who are attending, some of the favorites, and find additional details about what's happening there, hit the jump.

    03_evopreview.jpg

    EVO 2012

    • The run down: EVO 2012 is taking place from July 6-8 in Las Vegas, Nevada, there's going to be tons of amazing stuff to check out this weekend. The world's best fighting game players will of course be on display, competing for over $100,000 in prize money across 6 official games, and several other side tournaments. There will also be many panels and other festivities to see, too.

    • Who's expected to show: RZR|Fuudo, RZR|Latif, MCZ|Daigo Umehara, EG|Justin Wong, TH|Poongko, Hori|Sako, MCZ|Mago, AVM|GamerBee, Haitani, Kazunoko, MCZ|Tokido, MRN|WolfKrone, EG|Momochi, CVPR|PR Balrog, Uryo, FC|NYChrisG, Bonchan, WW|Infiltration, Eita, Kindevu, RZR|Itabashi Zangief, coL.cc|Filipino Champ, LU|Alex Valle, coL.cc|Mike Ross, AGE|Fanatiq, AG|MarlinPie, BT|Dieminion, BT|IFC Yipes, coL.cc|Combofiend, BT|Viscant, BT|Clockw0rk, TS|Arturo Sanchez, WW|Ryan Hart, DM|Xian, DMG|Online Tony, Flocker, Flash Metroid, DMG|Juicebox Abel, DMG|iPeru, EG|fLoE, WW|Laugh and TS|NerdJosh — and many more. Basically, almost every top player is attending this tournament.

    • Who to look out for: Fuudo took home top honors last year in SSF4 AE with his incredibly steady Fei Long play. Latif grabbed second, taking out many of the world's top players in the process with C. Viper. Justin Wong is coming in hot off some huge wins at CEO 2012, and Daigo Umehara and Ricky Ortiz can never be counted out. Sako and Hatani had great showings in the first Topanga A League, and they'll be a threat to break into the latter part of the tournament as well. There are a number of players who could potentially take top honors in SSF4 AE v2012, as this is one of the deepest tournaments you will ever see, and there's no clear favorite heading into the weekend.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has a few players who have stood up higher than the rest, as of late. The aforemention Justin Wong, along with Filipino Champ, MarlinPie, Fanatiq and ChrisG have all won big tournaments in the recent past, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see any of them take this one. A few players traveling from Japan will look to make a dent, including Chou who took 2nd place at KVO X GodsGarden, G.X. and Abegen, but they'll have their hands very full trying to deal with the absolute abundance of UMvC3 talent in the U.S. Kusoru is reported to not be attending this year.

    • Streaming duties and schedule: Team Spooky and iPlayWinner will be handling streaming duties once again, across three different live video feeds. An HD pay-per-view option will also be available, with all of the proceeds going to a $10,000 EVO college scholarship for gamers, which is a very nice gesture.

    • What else is available? There's a mobile app with all sorts of nifty features built in, and online brackets are also posted, so you can follow along at home.

Man I don't think Marvel is a particularly good competitive game, but I feel almost inclined to finally learn and start playing it. Gettin hyped for EVO.

also someone should make kazunoko aware of all the ? Champ has been talking since he's at champs house.
