In here we discuss music of all genre's! I would like to here people with unbiased opinions. State your 10 favorite artists of all times (regardless of genre). Also name your 5 favorite albums then respond to something in the thread, and or ask some or make your statement. After your first post you (of course) no longer have to post your 10 favorite artists of all times and or 5 albums.

Ok my 10 I will do in order

1. Curtis Mayfield
2. Bob Marley
3. Jay-Z
4. Billy Joel
5. Paramore
6. Incubus
7. Stevie Wonder
8. Pink Floyd
9. Led Zeppelin
10a. Eminem
10b. Outkast

BE: Common
Paramore: Brand New Eyes
Tupac: 7 Day Theory
Curtis: Curtis Mayfield
Michael Jackson: Bad

My question for everyone who enters this forum is what is the most important aspect judging music? I use diversity and lyrics as the parts that weigh the heaviest. This is why Billie Holidae, Nas, Common, and Prince didn't make the cut for me...I wanted to utilize Mariah Carey also, but I couldn't bring myself to use her because she doesn't write enough of her own music. What do you guys think?

@trockm whats your criteria for deciding on albums?

Something I can play from start to finish with skipping a song.. The first song being as good as the last, no album fillers

You like Prince's catalog over Michael Jackson? @plocc

I love mike, but I like Prince more because of his ability to also play every instrument, produce, as well as perform. I dont think MJ's catalogue would be as good without

T/S how does mariah not write enough of her songs? She was doing it back when most pop females weren't which is why I respect her so much. I thought that was an odd statement. As for me I look for interesting lyrics, good melody and of course voice. Playing instruments is a plus but not necessary for me to think they are a great artist. I love artists that sing a song differently every time they perform and add or switch up the melody. Not many artist can do this effectively. But I also like fun pop/dance music. If it makes me wanna dance, I love it.

I was under the impression that Mariah wasn't writing! That could be my mistake. If she was she is my favorite all tome female artist and a top 7 all time

@lighthearted26 who are your ten beat artists all time

between off the wall, thriller, and bad can you really go wrong? Bad is still a classic but Thriller's impact on the game then and now is greater...even MJ couldnt match Thriller's success
