When You Turn On Your Wii U, You’ll See This: WaraWara Plaza

Previously, Nintendo showed what it called "Mii WaraWara". It's a redesigned Wii Plaza, with Miis clustered around games and leaving messages. Today, Nintendo announced that the final English name for this feature is WaraWara Plaza.

"Warawara" (わらわら) is Japanese for "bustling".

In the WaraWara Plaza, you can see what other games people are playing—and talking about. Besides messages, it's also possible to leave illustrations. Using the Wii U Gamepad, you can touch Miis to see what they are playing and saying.

Iwata also demonstrated how Miiverse will provide a helpful, informative community while playing specific games. Say you only get a silver medal on a level in New Super Mario Bros. Wii U. You can now turn to the Miiverse community for advice on how to claim gold next time. If you die several times, you'll be asked to talk about your frustration on Miiverse. You can choose to follow reliable or particularly help contributors. But since everyone is talking about video games in the Miiverse, you might accidentally read a spoiler. Good news: Spoilers can be hidden. The MiiVerse is designed to quickly hide common spoilers through an automatic setting. Iwata also said that Miiverse functionality can be integrated without additional work for developers

One of the big changes for the Wii U is the Nintendo Network. Instead of Friend Codes, the Nintendo Network uses the Nintendo Network ID.

But before you get started, users must create a User Account. For each Wii U console, it's possible to create up to 12 User Accounts. Then, after that, you create your Mii. Next, you create the Nintendo Network ID.

Here's what you'll need to do that: a password, your date of birth, your gender, the area in which you live, and an email address.

This ID is then used with your eShop purchases, Miiverse, and video chat.

There are plans to enable the Nintendo Network ID to be used with other Nintendo hardware. In the future, Nintendo is planning to bring it to PCs and smartphones, giving users the ability to access the eShop and the Miiverse on non-Nintendo hardware.

In Nintendo's Miiverse, players can register new friends and follow them. (There is also a direct messaging function.)

Finally, Nintendo showed off how video chat works on the Wii U. The feature takes advantage of the GamePad's camera, and, um, it seems to look pretty much like video chat. Though, it does have the added ability of letting you draw on the Gamepad.

    That looks very sloppy
I just checked the wii u out @ target and it was even more underwhelming than it looks online.I will wait til it hits the bargain for $99 which should be in a few years.LOL Nintendo fanboys are fooling themselves if they actually think this console is more than average.360 and PS3 are better than this console.Fanboys will be doing a lot damage control after it releases.

if the wii u was a ? it would give the sloppiest top of all the video game consoles but we not talking about head we talking about a video game console. This ? confusing as ? i mean im a 22 year old ? and im still lost with all the ? this wii u about.

What ever happened to just turning a console on having maybe a little motion sensor use some banging ass graphics and 1 ? controller or controller combo? Now you got some big ass tablet as a ? controller with the sticks above some big ass screen but you can also use the wii mote combo ? if you want? Now you gunna have to spend half your time away from loking at your tv screen to look at some tablet. I dunno about you but i didn't buy my hd tv to spend half the time looking at a ? small ass tablet screen.

The OG wii sold because for the most part it as simple. "hey ? grab this controller and box a ? each one is like a hand!"........that ? was easy simple and fun......but this ? has too many different ad on's and options to be simple and fun.
