The Die Hard series is a series of action films beginning with Die Hard in 1988, which was based on the 1979 novel, Nothing Lasts Forever by Roderick Thorp. All five films are centered around the character of John McClane (portrayed by Bruce Willis), a New York City police detective who finds himself fighting a group of terrorists in each episode.

Rambo is an action film series based on the David Morrell novel First Blood and starring Sylvester Stallone as John Rambo, a troubled Vietnam War veteran and former Green Beret who is skilled in many aspects of survival, weaponry, hand to hand combat and guerrilla warfare. The series consists of the films First Blood (1982), Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), Rambo III (1988), and Rambo (2008).

You want a movie that pretty much keeps you @ the edge of your seat then it's any of the Die Hard movies. Just hope the next one that comes out in February is better than what I've seen in the trailers!!! -

DIE HARDDie Hard is my all time favorite action movie. First Blood like DH is a classic that transcends the action genre due to it's undeniable quality. They're on par but my bias makes me give DH the win by the inch of a hair.
Die Hard 2 is entertaining but just a retread of the original and pretty weak compared to the other 2 early DH movies. However it's still less obnoxious than First Blood Pt. II so even though FB II is more iconic I give DH 2 the edge there.
Die Hard with a Vengeance is much better than Rambo III but again the Rambo sequel has the more iconic imagery to the point of still being parodied to this day.
Live Free or Die Hard is pretty weak and the worst DH. It's not even a pimple on the ass of Rambo which is the second best of the John Rambo franchise.
Overall I give the Die Hard series the edge based on the strength of the DH trilogy. I watch those movies pretty regularly still. While I only really like 2 of the Rambo joints when it comes to regular repeat viewings. I don't think I'll ever see DH 5 though it just looks like Live Free or Die Hard 2 and I'm not really interested in seeing something like that. -
