rings are really just to flex for other people.

wearing a ring ain't gon keep y'all together or stop anybody from stepping out so in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter. whether you get a ring or not, if that relationship ain't air tight you shouldn't be walking down the aisle anyway.

that said, it's a nice keepsake in honor of the tradition, but nah it wouldn't be a dealbreaker.

My Parent's got married at my Aunt's house and they are still married. That extravagant wedding ? is a big waste of money. If u really love someone the cost of a wedding or getting a ring should not matter imo. I'm her's and she's mines that's all that matters
LOL same ? with my parents. My dad gave her a big wedding later on when they renewed they vows and he got her a better ring too.

But on the real, no guy wants to go "ring shopping" or plan out a big ass wedding. We only do this because usually this is what they want. It's waay too much stress involved with that ? . The worst part is when you see ? worrying about not paying too much or too little for a ring. The cake, the amount of people coming, the location, the food, the time etc etc... I aint bout that life lol.

SHOT OUT TO ALL THE COOL FEMALES THAT TAKE THIS STRESS AWAY FROM US MEN!

Is this just to go against the status quo (of the thread)?

To derail the thread as I usually do, I hate how men are expected to shell out 3 months pay on a ring and there is no equivalent practice where women go out and spend gobs of money on their men. Maybe I want a cool thing too. If it's a 50/50 relationship we should be getting each other cool gifts. This 'I give and not receive' thing is lame... especially cause I'm an only child and I'm used to getting everything I want.

But not entirely off target, I'm human, and as such I'm like a seagull and like big shiny things.

The ring doesn't matter as long as we both know we are married to each other...the ring is a symbolic thing..it maybe nice to have in show. But if you can't have a marriage without a ring...that is showing possession then you don't faith in each other.. To not show you to belong to someone.

me and my wife used to laugh that we got engaged through face book...

our statuses said engaged like over a year before she ever got a ring...

we planned on getting married a year after she finished college....only reason she got her ring when she did was because kay jewelers had a finance program going on, that was instrumental to me rebuilding my credit.....

i was planning on just looking at rings and was able to walk home an engagement ring on credit and the wedding bands a few months later on credit.......? was a complete surprise....and all of them have been paid off already
