FRANK OCEAN - CHANNEL ORANGEImo its either miguel's or frank's but i picked frank's because he sang about different things like about ? , wealth, etc.
-
MIGUEL – KALEIDOSCOPE DREAMMiguel came hard with his LP so he gets my vote
-
FRANK OCEAN - CHANNEL ORANGEFrank went in and brought something different to the table, but Melanie Fiona's album was really really good too
-
MIGUEL – KALEIDOSCOPE DREAMElle Varner - Imperfectly Perfect should b on the list IMO also
-
FRANK OCEAN - CHANNEL ORANGEI went with the Frank Ocean, but I agree with Cotton that Elle Varner should be there.

-
OTHER (List Album Name and Artist)Elle Varner- Perfectly Imperfect. The only album out of all of those that I can pretty much listen to from start to finish. Frank that dude but that album was hit or miss IMO, great songs and trash songs....
-

FRANK OCEAN - CHANNEL ORANGEI gotta say what's up to Tony Williams!
He dropped an album in early 2012 that went under the radar. -
R&B/Soul is dead. I'm at a lost for words about the state of R&B/Soul music.
-
MIGUEL – KALEIDOSCOPE DREAMMiguel for sure. And smash and wifing Elle Varner and Melanie Fiona
-
BJ THE CHICAGO KID – PINEAPPLE NOW LATERS
WORD???? I know ol girl, i was checking her stuff out months ago on Neo Soul Cafe, i couldnt but a face to her name........ -
FRANK OCEAN - CHANNEL ORANGEElle Varner ? damn...
-
BJ THE CHICAGO KID – PINEAPPLE NOW LATERSBut in MY HUMBLE OPINION, SPEAKING on my behalf, personally i would have to sit down and give Frank Ocean a Channel Orange a listen...
I would of liked for Frank to keep his sexuality to himself, before Frank Oceans fanboys get started, let me say i had his ultra album for years now and i liked it....
and more power to him for coming out, but i can't listen to another man signing to or about another man and their experience together and talking bout his first and a New Feel??? naw i change that ? everytime it comes on the radio, that's just me, i dont agree with his lifestyle but to each it's own.... he's speaking to a different demographic of males. females and others....
now some might wonder, what's the difference between Frank Ocean and George Michale, Little Richard and Luthor Vandorss but i touch on it later, dont feel like it right now...
But BJ the Chicago kid have the soul/r&b album of the year, if have a perfect balance of Soul music of the past with Modern R&B with the flavor of hip-hop/soul of the 90's, when fellas can play R&B because it's not to soft but have an edge to it and speak on ? that i can relate to.
How do i describe his style...... if you mix a little Marvin Gaye, Prince with D'Angleo, Jodeci and The Dream that describe his flavor/style....

BJ THE CHICAGO KID – PINEAPPLE NOW LATERSI love BJ The Chicago Kid's work. "Dream II" is motivation to me. "Good Luv'n" is like cruising in a spaceship... He sang his heart out on some songs.
-
MIGUEL – KALEIDOSCOPE DREAMI liked BJ on the Black Hippy tapes, but I could not get jiggy to his album outside some cuts.
But yeah, I love r and b with an edge, that men can relate to -
BJ THE CHICAGO KID – PINEAPPLE NOW LATERSMan there were some solid drops this past year but BJ The Chicago Kid ? was just amazing to me ... I love the fact that even as an rnb dude he dosent restrict himself to just talking about females .... Not that there's anything wrong with lovin the ladies but he was able to switch ? up and give you some topical diversity on his record ..the true greats mastered this James Brown, Marvin Gaye hell even Mike Jack switched it up ... His style is pure soul one of the best new voices I've heard in the last decade reminds me of Bilal spliced with some D'Angelo
Dream II
His Pain 2
The Big Payback
Unbelievable Records ...
Gotta give an honorable mention to Rashad's Mueseum as well .... Another amazing record -

Exactly. Thank you sir.
I was plugging Frank Ocean (damnit, Pause) to a lot of people around Ultra n that album stayed on repeat
Then he comes out n he's literally singing to men Lol Nah, no thanks bro
But props for the names dropped in here, im gon buy acquire all of their (heterosexual) music -
BJ THE CHICAGO KID – PINEAPPLE NOW LATERSJD nailed it. BJ is Bilal mixed with D'Angelo.
Ocean's album was more of a R&B/Hip Hop mix to me. Love Miguel and Elle's albums but BJ ? is the best overall R&B album.
