The family of Junior Seau has sued the NFL, claiming the former linebacker's suicide was the result of brain disease caused by violent hits he sustained while playing football.

The wrongful death lawsuit, filed Wednesday in California Superior Court in San Diego, blames the NFL for its "acts or omissions" that hid the dangers of repetitive blows to the head. It says Seau developed chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) from those hits, and accuses the NFL of deliberately ignoring and concealing evidence of the risks associated with traumatic brain injuries.

So do you think this lawsuit has legs? imo he's been retired for a minute and got depressed which is why he killed himself. No way they get any money from the NFL

If these old players and their families keep suing the league, pretty soon Sundays are gonna start looking like 7 on 7 drills...

No legs. He's a grown man. You know full well when it's time to go to the doctor. If you don't go, that's not the next man's fault. Furthermore, with all the research that started coming to light about brain trauma, there's no reason a retired football player with enough money to afford to health coverage shouldn't go to get himself examined.

i think these lawsuits are frivolous..nobody forced them to play football and plenty of players have walked away from the game when they felt their health and future was more important..and if they were naive enough to think their would be no consequences in the future for putting your body on the line all them years i have a bridge to sell you in brooklyn

This is some pure bs. Nobody wants to take responsibility for anything anymore. Every friday, saturday, and sunday when boys and men step on the field they know what the deal is and how the game is played.
There are already enough warnings about safety.
You have plenty of chances to quit and walk off the field.
Never heard of any hockey players, boxers, or mma guys filing lawsuits.
Any of the Nascar racers try to sue after a crash???

So what they are saying is that a certain amount of money will replace all the hurt and pain they suffered from his death
