Yoshinori Ono is teasing an update to Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition v2012 over on his Twitter. Usually Ono is a bit more cagey about direct details, but this is the first time he's been so forthcoming about a potential update to the game.

Ono has mentioned a few times previously that he'd consider updating the Street Fighter 4 franchise again, and also recently hinted that fan feedback pointed him in the direction of doing additional work with the Street Fighter franchise.

And I feel very much that we want to do something for [this] series.

Capcom announced at the Street Fighter panel at EVO 2013 that five new characters and six new stages are going to make it into the next Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition 2012 update.

The new characters are the four from Street Fighter x Tekken: Rolento, Elena, Hugo and Poison. The fifth character is a brand new one that has never been seen in a Street Fighter game before, which does not exclude the possibility of it being from another Capcom franchise.

Hit the jump for more information.

This is a DLC download which will cost $15, or $40 as a direct digital download/retail copy of the whole game. The DLC will work with both Super Street Fighter 4 and Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition through a continuous upgrade path.

Players who purchase the full digital release of the update will receive all previous DLC costumes for free. Also, UDON is designing brand new costumes that will be released as a pre-order bonus for retail.

The trailer showcasing the brand new name and logo will debut before AE Grand Finals at EVO 2013. The release of the game has been stated to be "early 2014", to be released on Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Japanese arcades via the NESICA system.

Dudley's Short swing blow being throw invincible is a major improvement to him. Wish they would have gave him better range though

I think they gonna overbuff some of these characters that ppl say are "Weak" most of them are already more than viable like Ken Makoto etc

Glad they didnt ruin Cammy, they did exactly what I thought should be done just nerf her damage/stun so its not "2 combos and youre dead" she should still keep all her mixups because shes really fun to play

and Cammy can do cannon strike lower= GOAT

Ono rules out Asura & Bad Box Art Mega Man as fifth Street Fighter 4 character, talking with EVO players about game balance

Capcom will be making an official announcement later in the year as to who the 5th character is that's joining the Street Fighter 4 franchise. Yesterday, Capcom announced that Rolento, Elena, Hugo and Poison would be added to the lineup, but they said there's one more who's never been playable in a Street Fighter game before.

Today, Capcom's Yoshinori Ono ruled out two candidates, Asura from Asura's Wrath and Bad Box Art Mega Man, who was a PS3 exclusive character in Street Fighter X Tekken.

Ono also said he's been enjoying talking to players at EVO about the balance of games like SSF4 AE v2012 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

    Yoshinori Ono ✔ @Yoshi_OnoChin

I could talk to a lot of SF/MvC series players about detail of tunning at this EVO time. Its very good experience.

    Yoshinori Ono ✔ @Yoshi_OnoChin

Asura!! Unfortunately, he isnt. :) RT @RandomReduX any chance the new SFIV character will be Asura, since Ryu and Akuma showed up in his gamE

    Yoshinori Ono ✔ @Yoshi_OnoChin

OK Fat MM doesnt join to SF. RT @rafaelmartines Please promise me that the new character is not Fat Mega Man
