Former Cash Money Records signee Alvin "Stone" Nelson has passed away while in a Louisiana Prison.

The rapper, who was part of Cash Money Degreez and in the duo D-Boyz with partner-in-rhyme Lac, reportedly died of natural causes. The news broke on CMDegreez.blogspot.com and confirmed by several associates who took to Twitter to express their grief.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Stone got his feet wet in the game while managing an artist for Soulja Slim before trying his hand at rapping. Throughout his career, he worked with artists ranging from Lil Wayne and Juvenile to T.I. and Mac 10, co-writing Big Tymers' hit "Still Fly."

After leaving Cash Money Records, Stone and Lac founded D-Boyz Entertainment in 2004, later signing a deal with 404 Music, Inc. and releasing Life of a D-Boy in 2009. Wayne appeared on the offering's first single "It's Your Money."

Stone and Lac spoke with HipHopDX in May 2008, with the former explaining how the two penned "Still Fly." "We just had to come up with different slang, all the things that would be hood rich," he said. "And we laughing about 'em cause the ? was funny, but at the same time everything was real."

HipHopDX sends its condolensces to Stone's family during this difficult time.
