A Florida woman married to a high-ranking intelligence officer and former Navy SEAL was arrested Tuesday after police say she lured a 16-year-old boy into having sex with her. Investigators would not reveal how of where 37-year-old Alexis Anne Colson, of Land O' lakes, met the alleged victim. However, police said that Colson arranged to meet the unnamed minor for sex at least on one occasion and sent her 15 explicit photos of herself.
The woman was charged with unlawful sexual activity with a minor and with sending harmful electronic transmissions. She was released from jail Wednesday after posting $15,000 bond, Tampa Bay Times reported. According to her Facebook page, the woman, who moved to Land O' Lakes from Connecticut a couple of years ago, is married to Tim Colson, and the couple apparently have three young children. Mr Colson’s LinkedIn profile states that he currently serves as an executive officer with the United States Africa Command, also known as Africom, based in McDill Air Force Base in Tampa.
The base became the subject of public scrutiny last year when the sex scandal that brought down former CIA Director David Petraus shed light on a group of ambitious socialites like the now infamous Jill Kelley who were desperate to curry favor with the high command. Mr Colson, who has a Master’s degree in practical theology, divinity and government from Regent University, began his career as an intelligence specialist for the US Navy, where he served for more than seven years.
He also served as a counterintelligence officer for Naval Criminal Investigation Service and worked for the aerospace and defense giant Northop Grumman. Between September 2008 and December 2009, Colson served for Navy SEAL Team Ten as an intelligence officer deployed in Iraq, and he had been part of SEAL Team 18 from 2004 until 2011.While her husband was serving on the base in Tampa, police believe Mrs Colson seduced a teenage boy earlier this month.
According to officials, Colson sent instructions to her underage paramour on how to get to their meeting place on January 22. She then drove him to another location in Hudson, where the two had a sexual encounter in her car, Patch reported. Detectives with Pasco County Sheriff's office found the instructions on the boy's Samsung Galaxy 2 tablet, along with more than a dozen pictures showing Colson naked or posing in a sexual manner.
The 16-year-old also showed officers a pair of black lace panties he said belonged to Colson. The alleged affair came to light after someone who loaned the teenager a cell phone discovered suspicious text messages, according to an arrest report. While the arrest report listed Colson as unemployed, her LinkedIn profile indicates that she worked as a fitness instructor. Until September 2010, the 37-year-old, who graduated from a community college last year, was employed as a certified nurse assistant for BrightStar Heath Care. While still living in Connecticut, Colson worked with mentally disabled patients.
