The real Star of this movie wad Tarantino. Now, applying the same logic as Will Decaprio wouldn't even have been in this movie.
Jamie did well, Tarantino movies dont work like that...
He is more focused on the the total package than one star getting shine.

No need to bring up Leonardo in relation to Will as far as acting goes...there's no competition there.

They are both equal as far as star power and pay grade. The comparison makes sense because Dicaprio could have said thee exact same thing, bit didn't.

I can't be mad at Will or any big-name actor being selective about their job. I aint gon pretend I know better. People got lots of reasons why they turn somethin down

What DOES irk me tho is what's mostly overlooked in the discussion: the stupidity of running yo mouf like he did when you got that wealth and influence.

Must be so easy to do when you got mega bank and ego, but think about this: the club of big name writer/directors and actors is small. And you can hurt your image and future easy by dumb ? you say.

So Will shoulda just sidestepped the question or used fewer words. A LOT fewer.

Just that episode on Fresh Prince where he shed tears and it wasn't even in the script shows that Will can act.
Will is just more of a action star but the movies he has done like Ali, Pursuit of Happyness, Legend etc shows that he can when he gets those type of roles. I feel as he gets older he will get more into Dramas.

On the bolded points . .

Any muhfucka can cry in front of a camera. Even "reality stars". LOL

Secondly, dude is middle-aged. 45 I think. Fast approaching 50. At a point it'll look silly of him jumping around in sci-fi flicks all the time ..

Those dramatic roles y'all list, he was just OK IMO. How you gonna loose the Best Actor Oscar for playing a once in a lifetime biopic of the great Muhammad Ali to a dude who plays a crooked cop?

Peeps like Denzel save very awful films with their performances. I'm afraid Will's acting cannot . .

well if you think about the question you asked, wouldnt it make sense to direct that same question at your own logic.

why didnt denzel win anything for playing malcolm x??

which role did he play better, malcolm or the crooked cop in training day??

and didnt halle berry win for monsters ball, a film where she performed a ? porn scene, that same year or very close to it??

    Yeah I did. Any answers?

Jamie won his off the hat. First attempt plus other similar awards in a leading category. That same year he was also nommed in a supporting role for Collateral opposite Tom Cruise. One of the very few actors to hold that achievement.

He did a far better job IMO of portraying Ray Charles (mannerisms and expressions) than Will did for Ali (dude still looked and sounded like .. Will Smith to me)

So y'all answer me that. I'm waiting ..

    LOL

you want us to give answers to your OPINION?? LOL

at the end of the day, no black actors ever win anything for their best roles. thats the point i was making with my post.

Will ain't even that good of an actor, he is shoe horned into roles because he is Much like the rock. His race is indistinguishable and he is nonthreatening.

I lost my faith in will after I am Legend and hancock.

That ? ain't nothing but Cuba gooding jr with job security.

u do have a point. Just like The Rock, most of his love interests in his films are non black. Will has been following that trend for some years.

If I'm not mistaken most of will smith love interests are black.

maybe in his early years. It seems like since 06/07 they've been non black: hitch, i robot, i am legend, hancock. Just off the top of my head

So Ray wasn't Jamie's "best" role ever as an actor? If there is any other better than that one please let me know . .

The same can be applied to Scorsese who finally won an Oscar for The Departed against other of his superior work

Its not like Denzel said during his acceptance speech: "Yo I don't deserve this .. Will should have it .."

And whether playing angelic or nasty characters, your job as an actor is to nail 'em which Denzel did in Training Day, which wasn't a great film anyway save for his outstanding performance

Anthony Hopkins won for Silence Of The Lambs, Marlon Brando won for The Godfather, Daniel-Day Lewis won for There Will Be Blood .. They're all white. Were any of those roles "good guy" roles?

    LOL

    Here's the main point.

Will certainly had a good mind to turn Django down, but the last thing Will did on film that was legit was Ali.

Will turned into Super Cena of Hollywood after Independence Day, and that was that.

I ? with Will too, but he needs a heel turn more than Cena does. In the end, Django worked out for everyone.

People are arguing that the film is bad for the image of Black America.

    Bruh . .

Jamie gave an interview to a UK newspaper which I read when he came over for promo and said that when the film was screened in Mississippi, there was rapturous applause and a standing ovation from folk . .

For every Black person killed in that film (remember in the era of slave & master), there's like five White people slain . . Do the math

Has Will been in a GOAT movie Yet? He's in a few movies That are really good but never in a movie that I would say is one of my favorites or in consideration while Jamie Foxx has.
