You have to go on multiple streaks to get to 72-10. The most they lost in a month was 3 games in Feb, I'm not knocking the win streak at all but 72-10 is more impressive imo

Would have been 73-9 but Huge Hollins (same ref who called that ? foul on Pippen vs Knicks 2 years earlier on playoffs) called a bs phantom foul on Michael Jordan late seconds in the 4th on a Pacer shooting a three pointer when they were up by 2.. Bulls were the home team too.

The heat are balling but mj & co shredded the league from start to finish that year.

    This isn't close for me

    The Heat???

No room for error in a win streak, plus the Heat will probably finish within 4-5 games of that 72 wins.

Winning 30 plus games and still not eclipsing 72-10 speaks volumes about what 72-10 really is..... stop it.

That works both ways though. That you can play well enough to go 72-10 and not even reach a 19 game win streak, let alone 33, speaks volumes too.
Um...No. So if Miami lost their first 40 games and then won the next 32 that is better than losing 10 games becaise of a streak? Come on man...be for real... a streak is cool but at the end of the day 72-10 is the regular aeason team record.

Your hypothetical has nothing to do with my point. And the 33 game streak is a regular season team record as well...

if the heat win out the rest of the year the streak will end at 39 .. making their record 68-14 .. itll be close to the bulls but no cigars... BUT.. if they DO win out AND get that chip.. that'll put them in contention for top 3 best teams of all time

Winning 33 games in a row is a phenomenal achievement. But in order to finish a season with 72 wins, multiple 10+, 15+ winning streaks have to occur.

whats crazy about that 72-10 season was afew of those games they lost were single digits (a bucket or two)

three of those were by a point
    three by 6
    one by 5

    one lost by 9
    one by 10
    got spanked once by 32

Actually no double digit streaks are mandatory. you could keep winning 8-9 in a row

    Simple math

That '72 Lakers team finished 69-13.
    Does that change anyone's opinion?

72-10 takes the whole season into account.

    Superb season > Superb stretch

If the Heat don't win the title the streak will be completely forgotten same way the '07 Patriots undefeated season was watered down after their SB loss.

They lost to the raptors once the other game came down to the last 30 seconds and mike hit the step bacc jumper for the lead which was the eventual game winner in toronto.Bulls lost to the pacers twice that year

    33 Game Streak
wow i thought this would be more balanced, but a 33 game win streak is more impressive, even though i dont think the heat will win that many in a row even though i hope they do.

You'd have to have at least 2 winning streaks in double digits.

    9 wins
    1 loss
    9 wins
    1 loss
    9 wins
    1 loss
    9 wins
    1 loss
    9 wins
    1 loss
    9 wins
    1 loss
    9 wins
    1 loss
    9 wins
    1 loss

Add 2 more losses in anywhere

    = 82 games. 72-10

    No.. you dont.

    33 Game Streak
if a team won 33 straight games and lost every other game then ? em, but win every remaining regular season game, and win the championship, then the argument can be made that this is the best basketball team of all time

    Nah

"Most impressive season" or some similar accolade maybe, but not best team of all time.

To win exactly 9 games out of every 10 played is damn near impossible though.

72-10 but a 33 game win streak in the modern era is still amazing

    Not my point.

Point was no double digit streaks are required, neither are nothing but 9 game win streaks.
