Let me preface this by saying I got nothing but love for the Old School, word to Pac. EPMD is one of my favorite groups, and I listen to Rakim, Kool G Rap on the reg. I made a statement that Drake is a better rapper than BDK, and a lot of ? caught feelings. I made a challenge that that the best BDK verses don't match to the best Drake verses, and certainly not the best Lil Wayne verses.
Lil Wayne, Drake>>>>> BDK.
Say what you will but I'm not trolling here, I honestly believe that. I ain't stanning nobody, but I feel like there is a stigma when you speak negatively about the old school rappers, as if they are untouchable or some ? . ? that. They deserve respect for paving the way but in some cases (like BDK) things have improved. No hate, just facts.
BDK has one of the best/smoothest flows/deliveries in hip hop histoy, but most of the time his raps are pretty basic.
Your thoughts?

Go ? ? yourself you ?

Why instead of catching feelings can you just answer the question? I love BDK but I also think people dismiss Drake's lyrical ability. Bar for bar I'm saying Lil Wayne and Drake can out spit him.

i'm not even gonna read this ?
i just came in here to let you know

From BDK's Classic "Ain't No Half Steppin" and possibly his most famous song
Rappers stepping to me, they want to get some
But I'm the Kane, so yo, you know the outcome
Another victory
They can't get with me
So pick a BC date cause you're history
I'm the authentic poet to get lyrical
For you to beat me, it's gonna take a miracle
And, stepping to me, yo that's the wrong move
So what you on, Hobbs, dope or dog food?
Competition I just devour
Like a pit bull against a Chihuahua
Cause when it comes to being dope, hot damn
I got it good, now let me tell you who I am
The B-I-G D-A-double D-Y K-A-N-E
Dramatic, Asiatic, not like many
I'm different, so don't compare me to another
Cause they can't hang, word to the mother
At least not with the principal in this pedigree
So when I roll on you rappers, you better be
Ready to die because you're petty
You're just a butter knife, I'm a machete
That's made by Ginsu, wait until when you
Try to front, so I can chop into
Your body, just because you try to be basing
Friday the 13th, I'mma play Jason
No type of joke, gag, game, puzzle or riddle
The name is Big Daddy, yes Big not little
So define it
Here's your walking papers, sign it
And take a walk
As the Kane start to talk, cause

From Drake's "9 Am In Dallas"
These are my one St. Thomas flows
Me, my ? and some Madonna hoes
That look just like virgins but trust they down to go
Discussing life and all our common goals
Smart kids that smoke weed, honor roll
Look how the champagne diamonds glow
Fine dining pour another glass when the wine is low
I'm in the crib stacking money from here to the ceiling
Whatever it is I got, it's clearly appealing
These other rappers getting that inferior feeling
I hope you feel it in your soul, spiritual healing
Take a look at yourself, the mirror's revealing
If you ain't got it, you ain't got it the theory is brilliant
People ask how music is going, I heard it pays
I just came off making two million in 30 days
Damn, "I guess it does" is what the message was
Sometimes I feel I be spending my money just because
With Weezy I'm just out here repping us
'til I get to shake the hand of the man that's blessing us
Yeah, I know these ? miss the mean lyrics
Kush got the room smelling like teen spirit
I ask kindly if no one out here would bring defeat up
Until I lose, for now I'm the game's single leader
I fly private so no one tells me to bring my seat up
And book a suite where me and your favorite singer meet up
Who you like, tell me who it is
I'mma make sure that that woman is the next one on my list
I should call it a night, but ? it I can't resist
This one is for all the ? from my city trying to diss
Without a response from me you really fail to exist
And I love to see you fail, that feeling there is the ? -

In terms of lyricism, I guess you can make the case that they are similar, speaking of Drake and BDK. Both of them have primarily notable flows. But as much doo doo grits as he is now, I would stack Wayne's best verses career wise against BDKs anyday, in terms of flow, delivery, and lyricism -
"Put a quarter in your ass cuz you played yourself">>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Drake's career.

lmao look at the ? he's rhyming. flows and hoes, was and because, resist and exist, etc. that isn't exactly the most advanced raps -
Only co-signing because i do believe there's a stigma there between newer artist vs. older artist.
-
I can say Wale got more bars then BDK and get murdered by old school heads.

Him and BDK are similar in that their flows outweight their lyricism. BDK isn't the type to make crazy rhymes either.
Not to say you, but lot of people no-signing this ? have probably listened to way less BDK than I have
-
First time in the year I was here I had to flag someone, and thats how ridiculous this ? was.
-
IMO "Warm It Up" is BDK's greatest display of lyricism in the traditional sense, but still, most of his songs consist of basic rhyme schemes like Drake

Lol @ me getting flagged hell of but only one person has bothered to even debate just a little. If you prove me wrong so be it but don't just come in here to say "? off ? " or flag me.

Lol .. the thread title is low key shock worthy, tho.. -
Let me just make clear that I think BDK has many many more noteworthy verses than Drake (not Wayne tho). I just think his best verses stack up nicely against Drakes
This is mainly an indictment against people who place rappers like BDK in a certain untouchable category, immune to criticism or comparisons to current mainstream rappers.
On a side note, I feel the comparison is actually good, most of BDK's songs are about women/partying. -
Different eras. It's like trying to compare Isiah Thomas to Bob Cousy.
What I will say though is after it's all said and done BDK will have the bigger legacy. -
lmao @ the title change

T/S ? yo'self 7 times.
....And yo' pops shoulda' let u off on the mattress.
....? you. -
Whoa...I dont see it...
-
look man
i see what you are trying to say
drake can rhyme his ass off
but man, in big daddy kanes days ppl were saying ? like
i am the man
i got a plan
if u get with this u better eat flan
BDK came out with flows and styles unheard of, that were way advanced for his time (along with rakim and others of course)
so you can't compare that to a dude that came 20 years later. the flows overall have changed and advanced so much. if u take drake and just stick him in 1988 yes he would be a good rapper for sure. but your comparison is downplaying the innovations at the time. rappers today aint saying ? and are biters like a ? , but flows have advanced so much that in terms of song making, if they jsut hop back to 1988 yes they would be very good. but the guys of today flows DEVELOPED from the foundation laid by ppl like BDK so you can't discount that BDK was way more innovative. your comparison just discounts that.
