i never "installed" it.
Dish gave it to me like a month ago and i decided i wanted to use it for my xbox.
I'm trying to use ethernet cords but the lights never come on when they're in the ports -
I'm going off the top of when I had to set up a new router, so my instructions may be shady, but anyway.....
You have to set the IP by linking the router to the modem, and to a laptop or PC with the ethernet cable and having a technician (or if you know how, which it's obvious that you don't) ping the ISP server to identify the new router so it can send/receive data for internet usage.
Once the ISP server identifies the router (by registering the router with model and serial numbers), you should be able to open a browser, type in the IP address and change the router settings as needed.

at least give us the model of your router @ItzGravitation -
heres what u do.
1. power down router and modem
2. power modem back on
3. plug the port that says lan on the router to your modem
4. plug your computer into one of the numbered ports on the back of the router
5. do ipconfig /all on the command prompt. dont know how then google it
6. look for the ip address of the default gateway
7. open your internet browser and type in the ip of the default gateway. you are now logged onto the router itself
8. configure it from that point.
9. ya welcome
