T/S doesn't know what he's talking about. Rockers like Chuck Berry and Bo Diddly laid the foundation for musicians of and after their time.. The Beatles and The Rolling Stones were playing Chuck's ? ! In fact, modern guitarists still lift from their work. Bad Brains are considered the godfathers of ? punk. It's arguable they are the greatest punk band of any era. They were light years ahead of their contemporaries as far as musicianship. Fishbone was one of the greatest rock acts of the 90s. Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Hazel are considered to be two of the greatest rock guitarists of all time, period.. Regardless of race. Toro Y Moi, TV On The Radio, and Twin Shadow are innovative leaders of modern alternative rock.

because of social conditioning everybody sees Rock and Roll as mostly white. Just like Country music. But I see where you're coming from. There should have been more black rock bands in the past. But people like Prince , Lenny Kravitz, Tracy Chapman, the Roots have several good rock joints but they're just not heralded in the 'white community' and probably are not widely distributed within white social circles.
Reading this thread I remembered a young rock and roll group that was featured in Red Bulletin magazine called the Bots. I thought they were pretty good especially for their age.

How about you investigate? Look up the moors and their contributions to what would be called classical music. Blacks are the fastest to forget their history and give it to someone else whose ancestors cannot tell the difference between bass or tremble. -
