I feel like people shouldn't be able to watch the movie if they don't read the book... or better yet, they shouldn't form an opinion on his life based off the movie
@Ziryab
I wouldn't say be allowed, but there's a lot in the book that isn't shown in the movie
A lot of people always talk about the Alex Haley Autobiography of Malcolm X.. Personally, I never read it.
BUT, I read another book & I think its more in depth being its a biography. Its better in my opinion.
57 chapters and 380 pages.. If you haven't already, I HIGHLY recommend you read this
I do need to read the autobiography though, there's no excuse lol
it goes over every, single, thing.
last time I read it I was a junior in high school (I was living in Michigan at the time). couldn't find it for years. Its rare or something I swear lol.. found it on amazon for less than $2 last month.. I'm happy to have it in my book collection. -
all of them
the part where he hid the bullet was classic -
He has quotables for days

Wait what? Why was he not paid?
Budget shortfall so he donated his pay to help complete the movie

After his return from mecca malcolm x did not want integration lets just make that ? clear

To be fair, he didn't say he didn't want it. He said he didn't see it happening. That's two different things. -

Like every one else Great Film, especially the pre prison scenes...but overall though great adaptation of his Autobiography
-
Which Malcolm do I like more? The one that changed from a boy to a man.
-
Denzel's best role in my opinion and the best Spike Lee movie also. Like somebody already stated I like all the Malcolm's because it showed how a boy became a man.
G.O.A.T. Movie
I've read the Autobiography Alex Haley did but I'm going to have to check out the one posted in this thread by Bruce Perry. Thanks for the info @goldenja -

Co-sign. The amazing thing about this film is how the first half is a dope gangster flick. That Russian Roulette scene?? Malcolm Little was TRILL. -

I saw this in the theatre opening day and I cant even lie, I shed tears when he got shot, that's how real this movie was to me.....I can relate to pre-prison and post pilgrimmage....In my youth, I was millitant as ? though.....I actually wrote a report on his "Chickens come home to roost" speech in high school.....

I still cry when he gets shot, real ? ...Then they go into the "I am Malcolm X" ? ...Gets me ertime, it's one of the few movies that does it...

BERTON: Now, before you left Elijah Muhammad and went to Mecca and saw the original world of Islam, you believed in complete segregation of the whites and the Negroes. You were opposed both to integration and to intermarriage. Have you changed your views there?
MALCOLM X: I believe in recognizing every human being as a human being, neither white, black, brown nor red. When you are dealing with humanity as one family, there's no question of integration or intermarriage. It's just one human being marrying another human being, or one human being living around and with another human being. I may say, though, that I don't think the burden to defend any such position should ever be put upon the black man. Because it is the white man collectively who has shown that he is hostile towards integration and towards intermarriage and towards these other strides towards oneness. So, as a black man, and especially as a black American, I don't think that I would have to defend any stand that I formerly took. Because it's still a reaction of the society and it's a reaction that was produced by the white society. And I think that it is the society that produced this that should be attacked, not the reaction that develops among the people who are the victims of that negative society.

I understand the no signs but you have to admit Malcolm and shorty were cooning at that time. they were both ? white women and they wore the conk hair style. that shuffle Malcolm and shorty did at the club would've also made a good gif. -
