I just had a conversation with a coworker about this the other day. He said that he can't see a black guy playing 007. He said it would be like a white guy playing Shaft. I told too bad its going to happen.

thats a ? comparison. A white cop going around Harlem? yeah right. Shaft is identified by his race. Bond isn't. He's more identified by his nationality and his job. -

nah nothing like that,the whole film is built on the relationship between M and Craig's version of bond,only the things he's done.in terms of continuity it ? it all up but it was interesting seeing them approach a bond film like that.
the way they end it though might suggest that the codename theory will come into effect after Craig is done.

Fassbender would be dope for the role after Craig leaves. Craig has raised the bar for James Bond actors and imo may be a better Bond than Connery. Elba is dope too, but you better believe it will be a drop off in ticket sales if Bond is Black. White people don't like Black heroes. They'd rather see us as thugs. I could actually see protests from the studio if Elba is cast

I knew ? were going to be saying Idris Elba's name all over the place before I clicked on the thread LMAO. But yeah like E2S said as long as it's a british guy I really wouldn't mind. It's not like Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Daniel Craig or Pierce Brosnan looked anything like the books described Bond as looking like anyway.

Elba's too old.
by the time Craig is done,he'll probably be in his mid 40s,in this day and age of franchises I don't see it happening,even if he is a good choice -

but nearing the end of his run,he was in his late 30s when casino royale came out.
Elba is 41,say it's going to take another 4 years for 2 more bond films and realistically you really think he can hold down the franchise when he's almost pushing 50?at most with an actor of that age they'll get 2 or 3 films out of him.
I'm just assuming because of the way they moved a lot of pieces about at the end of skyfall after Craig they will go for someone fairly younger.

Wouldn't be surprised one bit if Henry Cavill is the next Bond after he finishes his Superman gig. He was always a favorite for the role. Would've been our current Bond if it wasn't for his age at the time. Is getting established in Hollywood with a high profile role. Finally has reached the right age to transition smoothly from Craig when he's finally done.
