China slams 'troublemaker' Japan after Africa visit

Addis Ababa (AFP) - China launched a scathing diplomatic attack against Japan on Wednesday, warning African nations of an impending "resurrection of Japanese militarism" and branding Prime Minister Shinzo Abe a "troublemaker".

In a press conference held the day after Abe wrapped up a landmark African tour aimed at boosting Japan's presence in the continent, China's ambassador to the African Union accused him of trying to undermine Beijing's own diplomatic reach.

"Abe has become the biggest troublemaker in Asia," Xie Xiaoyan, who is also China's ambassador to Ethiopia, told reporters.

"He has worked hard to portray China as a threat, aiming to sow discord, raising regional tensions and so creating a convenient excuse for the resurrection of Japanese militarism," the ambassador said at the news conference, during which he showed photographs of tortured and dead Chinese victims of World War II.

He alleged that the conservative Japanese leader's visit to Africa was part of what he described as a "China containment policy".

"The world will have to be on the alert that this prime minister is leading the country onto a very dangerous road, and the international community should do everything to prevent Japan from going down even further along the road," he said.

Xie also repeated criticism over Abe's visit last month to the Yasukuni war shrine, believed to be the repository of around 2.5 million of Japan's war dead, including several high-level officials executed for war crimes after World War II.

"Think how provocative it would be if Germany were to pay homage to a shrine honouring say, ? ," he said.

Abe's three-country Africa tour, which took him to Ivory Coast, Mozambique and Ethiopia, was aimed at boosting Japan's economic and political ties with Africa, where China's widespread investments and interests are long-established.

So who do you think is a better partner with Africa..China, no fraking way. Japan slamming that 'Containment' card down on China, sorry a little Board Game humor.

Japan, South Korea, and China all have some sort of beef with each other.

Probably neither, they're just trying to make a buck, but..

I haven't done much research on the subject, so take this with a grain of salt, but China has added some infrastructure to some African nations, even if it's for their own benefit, and based on history, Japanese are known ? , so I'll go with China.

yall know this about that plot of fresh water tho right?

    lets just be real.

china running out of water and grabbing it up everywhere.

we even import our own to them.

China is looking for resources all over the globe but water isn't what they are after in Africa. Oil is however. Lumber, Minerals, rhino horns etc..

Looking forward to the day when China looks like Saudi Arabia with the expansion of the Gobi desert and them ? up their environment.

Many wars have been fought over water and many more will be fought in the future. Yes, large reserves of water have been found but now the fighting will begin over who has access.

Any politician who ships water to a foreign country in the future might as well slit his on neck.

    http://www.upi.com/Business_News/Energy-Resources/2013/10/23/Africa-faces-water-crisis-despite-discovery-of-huge-aquifers/UPI-13121382553986/

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- The recent discovery of two vast aquifers in northern Kenya and a third in Namibia has given weight to scientists' claims the African continent is sitting on immense underground reservoirs of water.
But the scientists also warn that Africa faces more droughts because of climate change and could have 25 percent less water by the end of the century, setting the state for possible water wars.

Egypt and Ethiopia, for instance, are facing off over the long-contested waters of the Nile River because Addis Ababa is building a giant $4.3 billion hydroelectric dam, which will cut the flow to Egypt, whose 84 million people depend on the Nile to survive.

The U.S. global security consultancy Stratfor cautioned the September discovery of the aquifers in the drought-plagued Turkana desert of northwestern Kenya near the borders with Uganda and South Sudan raises "the possibility of cross-border conflicts over water rights in the future."

Ehhh well if nothing else, at least the Chinese acknowledge the connection between their origins and Africans. I doubt you'd ever get that out of the Japanese.

    Japan
    Daber: in Hebrew, to speak.
    Daberu: Japanese for chatting.

    Goi: a non-Hebrew or foreigner.
    ? 'Jeen: prefix for a foreigner, a non-Japanese.

    Kor: cold in Hebrew.
    Koru: to freeze in Japanese.

    Knesset: Parliament in Hebrew.
    Kensei: Constitutional government in Japanese.

These are among the thousands of words and names of places with no real etymological meaning in Japanese. And they all correspond with Hebrew words. Even the Kings have similar names. The first known king of Japan, who was named Osee, ruled around 730 BC. This king has been identified with the last king of Israel, Hoshea, who died around the same time, at the time of the Assyrian exile of the ten tribes from Israel. The holy Japanese shinto temple strongly recalls the ancient holy Isrealite temple, which housed a holy of holies section and several gates. Several artifacts in Japan have been traced to Assyrian and Jewish sources, among them, a well in Koryugi with the words "well of Israel" inscribed on its side.

I agree but if China can help build infrastructure in Africa, it's not the worst thing that can happen. China has money in the bank most African nations so far don't have, so it can benefit Africans in many ways

african nations should have no loyalty to china or japan and the more competition in the market for african resources the better. Africa nations should play these two off against each other so that they get the better deals from both.
