The head of the Fritz Pollard Alliance, which monitors diversity in the NFL, expects the league to institute a rule where players would be penalized 15 yards for using the N-word on the field.
John Wooten, the head of the Fritz Pollard Alliance, anticipates that the NFL's competition committee will enact the rule at the owners' meeting next month.
Wooten, who previously has urged all players to stop using the N-word, thinks the NFL will rule an automatic 15-yard penalty for first-time offenders and an ejection for second infractions.
"I will be totally shocked if the competition committee does not uphold us on what we're trying to do," Wooten said, according to CBSSports.com. "We want this word to be policed from the parking lot to the equipment room to the locker room.
"Secretaries, PR people, whoever, we want it eliminated completely and want it policed everywhere."
Wooten thinks the competition committee will officially agree to the rule next month before presenting it to the owners.
"I think they're going to do what needs to be done here," he said. "There is too much disrespect in the game."

If this goes through there will be a lot of 15 yard penalties called.
-
seems extreme. wouldn't automatic ejection make more sense? dont punish the whole squad for it.
-
im actually surprised they're considering banning ? before they ban ?
thats probably up next though -
White commissioner tellin' ? they can't say ? ...

? ?
That's what happens when there's little to no blacks in a position of power.
The NFL and NBA are two leagues where the majority of the players are black yet the majority of the power, money, and decision making is in the hands of white and jewish men. It is what it is I guess. -
What if a black player says ? ?
-
white people should never try to police or penalize black people for what comes out of their mouths. Hell you might as well just suggest they penalize all profanity on the field in general not just the N word
-
This is idiotic I cant even begin to make sense of this you cant even hear fb players if they arent at the line....in before the ? crackdown decreases CTE
Yet they wont move on the Redskins slur or even acknowledge the concerns

Snyder has no intention of changing the name. And I bet Goodell really doesn't give a ? . -

That's really the only reason they're considering this. Think it's a coincidence that they are banning "? " the same year a ? player comes into the league? Goodell knew he would get called on the double-standard if they started dishing out penalties for players calling Sam a "? " so this move is preemptive. Doubt we'll see the "? " penalties enforced very often, it's just a CYA rule for the league. -
So does the n word in question end in an "a" or an "er"?
-
-
So I guess ? are going to start to have calling other ? on the field.. Redskins as a substitute word for ? .. Since apparently the almighty NFL views that word as the good kind of racial slur...

Some of these post are just ? ?
No flags -
Really tho. Smh.

No bullying or saying anything offensive is aloud..... It's funny that the nfl did this to themselves by pretending like they care after Jonathan Martin quit. If they really cared why now?

All that will be legal in a few years will be "no look here whippersnapper!"

Political correctness is killing this world, piece by piece.

They probably won't change the name, but as someone who lives here I can tell you it's a constant topic of conversation the past few years and they talk about that ? on local sports radio at least a few times every month. They acknowledge it, they just keep saying it's on Dan Snyder not the NFL itself. They basically pass the buck back and forth -
...
Two things:
1. No.
2. Eliminate the mics.
No one needs to hear "OMAHA! OMAHA!" and random player chatter to enjoy a game of football. I'm with Wilbon and what he said on PTI a little while ago, which correlates with my first point--no.

Apparently ? is on a list of words they are discussing banning in the NFL
