Ahead of E3, Bethesda Game Studios says it won't reveal its next game "for a long time."

The next game from Bethesda Game Studios, the developer behind hits like Fallout 3 (2008) and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011), is not going to be announced for quite a while.

Asked by a fan on Twitter if there would be a Fallout 4 announcement at E3, Bethesda marketing executive Pete Hines said: "1) I don't really pre-announce our announcements. 2) [Bethesda Game Studios] will not be talking about its next game for a long time."

Asked to clarify what he meant by a "long time," Hines replied, "We simply wanted people to know not to expect any kind of announce any time soon. I don't know for certain when it would be."

Rumor has it that Fallout 4 is indeed real, and that it takes place, at least partially, in Boston and its surrounding area. This is of course unconfirmed, but the evidence is piling up.

Whatever Bethesda Game Studios is working on, it's been in full development for more than a year now. In April 2013, the studio said it was "moving on to our next adventure." Whatever this turns out to be, it has large shoes to fill, as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, a strictly single-player game, has sold over 20 million copies to date.

Bethesda also recently trademarked Starfield and Soulburst, as well as Void Engine, none of which have been officially announced to date.
