Tuesday night’s All-Star Game festivities were marred by controversy after NL pitcher Adam Wainwright revealed that he had intentionally grooved a couple of pitches to man-of-the-evening Derek Jeter, one of which was slapped by Jeter up the line for a double.
Since All-Star Games count now – thanks to Bud Selig and his idiocy – many fans got angry at Wainwright for, in their eyes, violating the competitive spirit of the game just to give Jeter a chance at a moment. Wainwright must have found out about all the social media backlash and felt compelled to backtrack from his remarks in an interview with Erin Andrews.
And the Andrews interview has now touched off a whole new controversy thanks to Boston radio.
In the talk with Andrews, Wainwright said that he was just joking about grooving the pitches and assured fans he would never do anything like that in a genuine competitive game like the All-Star Game. After Wainwright’s protracted, very apologetic explanation, Andrews tried to lighten the mood a little by quipping, “Don’t you love social media?”
This did not go down very well with Boston radio host Kirk Minihane, who launched into a tirade against Andrews, calling her a “gutless b–ch.”. "Go Away" "Drop Dead"
