Today, Sony released a new Playstation 4 firmware, it updates the console to version 1.74 and improves stability of some softwares. This is the fourth stability update in a row for Playstation 4 from Sony.

Playstation fans are livid with Sony for ignoring their demands of new features via Firmware and for pushing out stability firmware one after the other. On the otherside, Microsoft on monthly basis have added tons of new and meaningful features to Xbox One.

Reddit, Twitter and other social media platforms are full of nasty comments from Playstation 4 owners against Sony for ignoring their demands. You can read some of them below:
Firmware update 2.0 - MASSIVE stability.

This has to be the most stable console ever.

November 2014: System update 1.75.453 announced! "Improves stability of some software

This is really starting to get annoying. Xbox One has gotten like 8 major updates since launch and we've gotten 1... Please Sony, hurry up with MP3 support, DLNA and name changing!

According to well known industry insider, the next Playstation 4 firmware will be "1.80", will add long pending features and will arrive around GamesCom 2014.
The next FW update is going to be called 1.8 and it will come around #gamescom2014 #ps4

Its really embarrassing that Sony haven't added any major new feature to Playstation 4 via firmware and the so called "stability fixing hasn't even fixed the share button". Here is the rundown of things added to PS4 since launch:

- A rich video editor called ''SHAREfactory'' is now available
- [Best HD] (720p) has been added as a supported resolution for broadcasts using Ustream or Twitch
- You can now save your broadcasts to Ustream or Twitch

- You can now select the length of video clips that will be saved. The length can be 1, 3, 5, 10, or 15 minutes.
- Screenshots and video clips will not be saved when you select [Broadcast Gameplay] in the menu for the Share feature. To save screenshots, select [Upload Screenshot] or press the triangle button. To save video clips, select [Upload Video Clip] or press the square button.
- You can now set the audience on Facebook for sharing your screenshots and video clips. (previously a system-wide option set the same audience for all uploads)
- Option to share multiple screenshots to Facebook in a single post
- Music Unlimited now has 'Share' capabilities
- HDCP can now be turned off, allowing video capture over HDMI
- The DualShock 4 light bar can be set to three brightness levels: bright, medium or dim
- Full functionality for PlayStation Vita TV remote play with PS4 systems added (Japan only)
- PlayStation Plus icon displayed for members
- Option to sort Trophies by rarity
- Additional voice commands
- Deep color output option within video output settings
- New notification type: "From PlayStation"
- The login screen no longer appears when a controller is disconnected and reconnected

- While watching Blu-ray movies, it is now possible to go back to the PS4 main menu without closing the player entirely
- Adjust microphone level settings within Audio Device Settings.
- Games pre-ordered on PlayStation Store can now be pre-downloaded allowing immediate access on release date
- Alternative payment options for PS4 content are now available
- New Friends options, making it easier to find friends, friends of friends, mutual friends, and accept friend requests more quickly
- Eject/insert disc icons now appear in the upper right corner of the screen when you eject/insert disc.
- System now beeps upon eject button press.
- Picture quality during DVD playback has been improved.
- Wireless stereo headsets (CECHYA-0080 / CECHYA-0083 / CECHYA-0086) and a stereo headset (CECHYA-0088) are now supported.
- One the other side, some of the major features that are added to Xbox One via monthly firmware are: "3D support, external storage, the ability to run Skype calls while playing a game, auto sign-in, a progress bar for game saves, friend sign-in notifications, low battery indicator and more."

Also, when it comes to firmware feed, Microsoft has opted for an open door policy with Xbox One owners. Firmwares are tested before its official public release by Xbox One owners in preview program, and via Reddit and other social media platforms, Microsoft is constantly communicating and providing a direct response to problems that Xbox fans have.

On the other side, Sony are silent about some of the major issues faced by Playstation 4 owners, especially Share Button. "I and engineers and big executives at Sony are aware of the issue but they have been pretty quite."

The Xbox preview program is great. The smallest features added make huge differences. There is also an app where you can give feedback and also request certain features.
