Sony Pictures Confirms Official “The Last of Us” Motion Picture

During the final years of the PlayStation 3, Sony struck gold with a new exclusive franchise all audiences of gaming fell in love with for The Last of Us. The title gained so much popularity, that even a remastered version on PlayStation 4 was met with high demand and is due out this Tuesday for retail and digital. Sony Pictures took it upon themselves to formally reveal plans for an official movie of the Naughty Dog’s action-adventure survival horror title in the future.
Director and producer Sam Raimi, known for Tobey Maguire’s Spiderman trilogy and game author Neil Druckmann will be behind the film. While release date and actors are yet to be revealed, Massie Williams, who plays Arya Stark on Game of Thrones, is being tapped as the lead candidate to play the role of young Ellie in the 2033 post-apocalyptic setting.
With more than 7 million copies sold worldwide, we expect The Last of Us to be a box office smasher when it arrives in theaters at a later date.
