CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
A suburban Chicago police cruiser doubled as a pizza delivery vehicle Sunday night, according to a report.

At around 8:45 PM, an officer pulled over a vehicle occupied by two people near Chicago Avenue and Garfield Street, according to officials. The officer had stopped the vehicle for driving through a parking lot to avoid a red light.

After conversing with the driver, the officer realized he was a pizza delivery driver and that he was currently making a delivery. However, the cop also discovered drug paraphernalia in the car.

Upon taking the two into custody, the officer decided to then deliver the pizza to the resident who ordered it.

“We try to do all we can to help our residents, but I think this is the first time we've delivered a pizza,” Police Chief Jeff Burgner told Only Oswego.

The recipient apparently was pleased in more ways than one, according to PEOPLE.

"A confused resident accepted the pizza, and was very glad that the police were there to deliver the pizza, rather than talk to them," police told PEOPLE.

The following is a post on the Oswego Police Facebook Page:

"Oswego Police arrested two male subjects at Chicago and Garfield for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. One of the subjects was en route to deliver a pizza to a local residence at the time of arrest. Seeing that the large pizza sitting in the passenger seat had no means of reaching its destination, an officer delivered the pizza to the specified address on the receipt attached. A confused resident accepted the pizza, and was very glad that the police were there to deliver the pizza, rather than talk to them. #37"
