After failing to ? the Mendoza drug case and getting romantically entangled with the wrong woman, Andre Shame (Keenen Ivory Wayans) is forced to give up his private detective gig with the Los Angeles Police Department. But when an ex-colleague now working for the Drug Enforcement Administration (Charles S. Dutton) informs Shame that the Mendoza case is being reopened, he begins a personal investigation.

To catch a pair of escaped cop killers, detective Jack Cates temporarily paroles wisecracking hustler Reggie Hammond into his custody. This odd couple has only 48 hours to solve the crime before Reggie has to go back to the slammer.

    Didn't know Charles Dutton killed someone before...

    In his youth, Dutton dropped out of school before finishing middle school. He had a short-lived stint as an amateur boxer with the nickname "Roc." When he was 17, he got into a fight which resulted in the death of a man Dutton claimed had attacked him. Dutton was charged and convicted of manslaughter, and he spent the next seven years in prison. Several months after being released from prison, Dutton was arrested for possession of a deadly weapon, and was sentenced to three years in prison.
