Washington, D.C. -- The Federal Communications Commission voted Thursday to implement new net neutrality rules designed to make sure Internet service providers treat all legal content equally.
The historic vote on the proposal by FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler elicited hearty cheers from a wide array of technology companies and consumer groups while setting the table for further legal challenges from Internet service providers. The controversial proceedings that led up to the vote generated heated lobbying in Washington and public clamor on social media, all in efforts to steer the future direction of the rules that guide Internet traffic.
"No one ... should control free and open access to the Internet," Wheeler said to applause from the standing room-only crowd gathered before the FCC panel. "It's the most powerful and pervasive platform on the planet. The Internet is too important to allow broadband providers to make the rules."

Ok so now whats in that ? , i heard it was 300 pages
-
I just heard 3 white people get into a big argument about this at work. Two of them was sayin that Obama is adding a new tax or some ? . The real story behind that argument is that ISPs might be able to charge some of the same fees they charge for phone service but even that's not a guarantee.
-
The argument went from some ? about a tax to "we don't want the government controlling anything". One dude who wasn't apart of the discussion was tellin them to quiet down and they started clowin him. He just up and left and we haven't seen him since.

Make no mistake this is some foul ? going down, im watching the wires right now and imma bring any news i find back to the hive.

The internet will stay as it is. Many corporations wanted to create fast lanes and slow lanes on the internet. Essentially corporate interests wanted to force sites to pay for quick loading times on the net. If they didn't pay then they could slow access to that site.
It would have made it very difficult for any start-up companies to compete with established sites for that reason.
As an example let's say you created a site to compete with Netflix, since Netflix can afford to pay whatever price is set to have quick service that would give them an advantage over your site. But thanks to net neutrality you don't have that problem. -
Damn near most big sites wanted this while the corps was against it. I know Netflix happy as hell
-
Yes they did because they don't want to pay the extra costs. Internet providers wanted to defeat this.

The idea of net neutrality is that your internet service provider can't slow down your traffic because your streaming something like netflix or downloading a torrent and they can't give priority to certain companies that pay them. The internet is basically a utility like electricity and the company providing that utility can't discriminate with their services. The argument that I've heard against it is that by making it a utility, internet service providers may try to charge some of the extra fees that utility providers charge on top of your monthly fee. You'll probably here clowns on fox news wrongfully calling net neutrality a tax because they think if they call anything they disagree with a tax, they can get voters to disagree with it too.Freeman...... wrote: »300 pages?

Comcast and some other internet service providers have been on some ? lately about demanding that netflix pay for a portion of their bandwidth costs because so many of their customers were using netflix. That's not really netflix job and that's like asking every website out there to pay for your bandwidth because the customers you provide internet service to are going to their website and streaming/downloading content. I believe they either already were or were planning on throtttling(slowing down) netflix traffic to make it impossible for their customers to use netflix even though they were paying netflix for a subscription and paying comcast or whomever for Internet service. That's the type of ? net neutrality is supposed to stop.
If I remember correctly, net neutrality rules initially only applied to verizon because of some airwaves that they bought for their lte service but they decided to go to court and complain about it and ended up shooting themselves in the foot. While it's possible that their could be some shady ? in the regulations let's be real for a minute.
1. Passing shady ass legislation without the public knowledge is what we have congress for and
2. The government pretty much has all of your data already. What else would they want they couldn't already take without your permission anyway. This ain't some ? that the people had a chance to vote on and the FCC has limitations on what they can actually do. -
So is doyouwanttogotoheaven wrong
