Clip Of OU SAE Frat House Mother Using N-Word Has Surfaced
The fallout surrounding the racist chant video featuring members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at the University of Oklahoma continues to grow. A clip of the SAE frat’s house mother gleefully using the n-word has surfaced, this after she expressed shock and disappointment over the original video.
The Oklahoma Daily, OU’s newspaper, reported on the discovery of a 2013 Vine video featuring 79-year-old Beauton Gilbow, who was seen in the short clip rapping along to Trinidad Jame$’? “All Gold Everything.” As the refrain in the track plays in the background at a party, Gilbow is shown laughing and repeating the n-word just as the song goes.
More from the Oklahoma Daily:
The Daily identified Gilbow by comparing the Vine to her GoFundMe page, which was created to raise funds for her after Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s closure resulted in her sudden joblessness. The campaign page has since been taken down.
Gilbow recently talked with Barry Switzer and News9 about the racist video that led to the chapter’s closure, saying that she’s “in shock” by the events that have unfolded.
Gilbow’s GoFundMe page was started after the closure of the SAE frat house and reportedly has raised $6,000 thus far. Local CBS affiliate News 9 interviewed Gilbow and former OU football coach Barry Switzer Monday (Mar. 9) with the longtime friends were both emotional over the SAE house being closed down.
Gilbow claims she’s never heard the racist chant song during her tenure as house mother, and Coach Switzer vouched for the SAE frat members.
“It hurts me because I have a vested interest in this. I am an SAE. And I know the kids in this house. I spent some time over there, and I know what they’re like,” said Switzer.
Apparently, he didn’t know them well as he thought. And neither did Gilbow.

Two University of Oklahoma students expelled over racist chant
University of Oklahoma president David Boren has expelled two students he says have been identified as leading a racist chant as part of a fraternity event.
Boren said on Tuesday the two students, whose names were not released, were dismissed for creating a “hostile learning environment for others”.
The video posted online shows several people on a bus participating in a chant that included a racial slur, referenced lynching and indicated black students would never be admitted to the university’s chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
Boren says he hopes the dismissal of the two students will help students realize “it is wrong to use words to hurt, threaten, and exclude other people”.
Boren severed ties with the fraternity on Monday and ordered its house shuttered.
