All sorts of correlations have been found between right wing ideologies, racism and support for law enforcement (and the military), this has been going on for decades.

I was watching a retired police officer (Black) on Chris Hedges show Thursday and he flat out said that the major issue is an issue of who gets to be an officer and who is hired by these departments. I don't think that's all there is but I agree with that.
