BatmanBatman the movie spawned Batman: The Animated Seried, one of the greatest cartoons ever made, and a catalyst to a lot of DC Animation that we see today.
That is aside from the fact ithat is a great movie in its own right. -

BatmanAnton Furst's Oscar winning Gotham City was so damn good and reminiscent of the original gothic Golden Age comic book Gotham from the 40's that the comics were forced to adopt it by the early 1990's.
It's a shame he killed himself and wasn't able to continue his work. I would've loved to have seen how he would've expanded on it in Batman Returns. While I do like the production design in BR it's clearly a notch below what Furst did in the original.
