It's about that time.
New Coach
Can't wait to see how Coach Quinn's hands on approach improves this defense. Coach Quinn made sure he acquired & retained the players that best fit his schemes.
New Front 7
The front 7 improved drastically with a couple of sleeper FA signings & 1st round draft pick Vick Beasley. Brooks Reed & Justin Durant were very key pieces to their former teams. They immediately improve last season's LB core full of UDFAs. 5th round pick Grady Jarret is showing promise in camp. Hageman is making great improvement creating pressure inside as he is asked to play to his strengths in this scheme unlike last year. Clayborn, from Tampa, will keep the pass rush rotation consistent. Schofield, Tyson Jackson, Babineaux & Paul Soliai provides something our defense hasn't had in ten years.....Depth. I'm hearing a lot of our 1st team defense from last year is 3rd string this offseason. Its beautiful
Solid Secondary
With Alford, ? Mo & Trufant all returning, I'm confident that they will not be a weakness. The young(veteran) corners have a pass rush for the 1st time in their career. Alford took his lumps with penalties & star receivers but his ball hawking skills are still impressive. He worked out with SuperBowl champion Safety, Ryan Clark, this offseason. It shows dedication IMO & it'll definately show on the field. Ricardo Allen is being asked to start at FS for the 1st time. I have no idea how it's going to play out but he should be fine. Coach Quinn worked with ? Mo personally to work on his tackling. He tried to do too many big hits & missed last season. It was addressed quickly by the new regime. Look for Desmond Trufant to have a pro bowl type of year.
Zone-Blocking Scheme
New OC Kyle Shanahan is implementing this offense to help mask this embarrassing O-Line that we've had for years. Matt Ryan will do a lot of roll outs like he did at Boston College. It'll take pressure off of the O-line & give Matt more time to pass the ball. The Offensive line is still a concern but hopefully he gets this ? together. Newly acquired veterans OG Chris Chester & Mike Persons will definately improve the interior along with Hawley, Stone & Asamoah. Shraeder & Mathews manning the Tackle position will just have to hold up.
RB By Committee
Shanahan is known for making something out of nothing when it comes to RB. Hopefully our two young & shifty RBs can step up and give us a running game finally. Devonte Freeman & Tevin Coleman will be running the show early. Smith, as the utility back, will look to return to form after injuries. His explosive TDs kept us in a lot of games last year. Michael Ford, former Bears RB, impressed during Friday Night Lights just hours after he signed with the team. He might be a gem.
Receivers & TEs
It goes without saying that the passing game is the strength of the team. Hopefully Roddy & Julio can stay healthy. They'll eat regardless. FA Leonard Hankerson is a former player of Shanahan's and it shows in camp. Rookie Justin Hardy is showing great hands, route running & seperation in practice. Tamme is bringing back consistency with his hands. He also brings a new threat that Matt's never had. A seam route catching TE with speed. Sprinkle in some Hester with the gadget plays and this offense will be hard to stop if that O-line can hold up.
Special Teams
Devin Hester & Eric Weems play two different roles but both of them should be in the pro bowl every year for their contributions. Weems coverage, blocking and tackling skills are superior. He'd also be the returner on most NFL teams. Hester is going to the Hall of Fame. We can get at least another great year out of him.
Franchise QB

Anybody who says otherwise can ? themselves and eat a ? . That is all

The coach is cute.
Falcons stay being a trade-fest. -
My eagles play them week 1 in the dome any bets?

The last time I did an AVI bet with someone, they didn't follow through with it. So nah, no bets for me. -

Injuries are part of the game, but there's no avoiding them on the football field. On Wednesday, another player fell victim to the injury bug.
Safety William Moore left practice early Tuesday with what head coach Dan Quinn said was a calf injury when he addressed the media following the session.
Defensive lineman Ra'Shede Hageman also left practice with a face/neck injury.
Cornerback Desmond Trufant sat out Tuesday as he recovers from a shoulder injury that kept him out of Friday's game against the Titans, but Quinn said Trufant would return to individual drills soon.
There hasn't been a decision made about running backs Devonta Freeman or Tevin Coleman concerning Friday night's game at New York as the two recover from hamstring injuries. Both have returned to practice.

Grossman spurned the Jets in their pursuit for a veteran quarterback after Geno Smith's broken jaw and hasn't appeared in a game since 2011. But he has a long history with new Falcons OC Kyle Shanahan. T.J Yates and Sean Renfree are the current backups to Matt Ryan in Atlanta. Aug 18 - 10:14 PM

Bruh... I was just comin in here to make the exact same post -
Prediction is 11-5
Aside from quitrino Falcons tend to overachieve with first year coaches -
From the last preseason game, I really liked what I saw from the starters outside of the running game. The real test won't come till the third preseason game. I'm anxious to see what the pass rush looks like with extended playing time from the starters. Also Inglewood your sig is distracting me from typing lol.

The starters have been great but the backups are trash. Hankerson looks like he could be a good no 3 wr and a potential Roddy replacement down the road.
-
Shanahan has to get that running game going. Pass protection has improved & serviceable. That run-blocking is still suspect though. Besides that and a backup QB, the squad ready to make a run.

Dan Quinn said Tevin Coleman expected to play Saturday

Quinn said Devonta Freeman still a question and not as ready as Coleman. Trufant won't play. Roddy, ? Mo, Antone Smith out

How that sweep feel? That post is irrelevant -
Time for some NFC South football!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A broken clock is right twice a day. It doesnt mean it is fixed. Winning two games in a row against the Saints is truly a abnormality that will correct itself.
OT: Trying to come up with a name for the new georgia dome. One suggestion from a Failcon fan on the radio. THE SPHINCTER! LOL! -
-
If they can keep Roddy somewhat right for a whole season, Falcons should win the division
-
I'm really hoping they get the running game together over the next few weeks. Right now it isn't looking too hot.

It's going to take a year and a half to get that O-line up to par. We need an OG, Center & a RT. it's really nothing that can be done about it this season. Two of those positions will be addressed before next training camp.
