None other than Ta-Nehisi Coates.

For those who don't know who he is, he writes for The Atlantic and is currently a National Book Award nominee for Between the World and Me, a book written as a letter to his teenaged son that addresses the realities of what it’s like to be black in the United States by recounting his youth in Baltimore.

The comic is debuting Spring 2016.

Below is the cover for the issue.

Black Panther is the gawd of all gawds in Marvel. On top 10 smartest people on the planet, more money than Tony, just as good tech or better than him, Ruler of a country, master of all martial arts, tactician, knowledge of not only science but mystic arts as well and has heightened abilities by a special herb. His abilities have been increased greatly power though since the panther ? that his people worship made him king of the dead. He is also an excellent tracker and his senses are heightened as well before the upgrade.

I'm pretty much exclusively DC these days but I'll cop this. Cyborg is written by a black writer too I support that every month.

    BLACK PANTHER #1
    Written by TA-NEHISI COATES

    Variant Cover by ALEX ROSS

A new era for the Black Panther starts here!

Written by MacArthur Genius and National Book Award winner Ta-Nehisi Coates (“Between the World and Me”) and illustrated by living legend Brian Stelfreeze, “A Nation Under Our Feet” is a story about dramatic upheaval in Wakanda and the Black Panther’s struggle to do right by his people as their ruler.

The indomitable will of Wakanda—the famed African nation known for its vast wealth, advanced technology, and warrior traditions—has long been reflected in the will of its monarchs, the Black Panthers.

But now the current Black Panther, T’Challa, finds that will tested by a superhuman terrorist group called the People that has sparked a violent uprising among the citizens of Wakanda. T’Challa knows the country must change to survive—the question is, will the Black Panther survive the change?
