Yeah I played Vol 2 more when it actually came out because Jay at the time was just a more notable artist and Hard Knock Life had shot on fire ....but ultimately I grew to love that Aquimini much more ...Vol 2 just has too much of that ol stiff ass east coast drum sequencing and rhythm sections for my taste ... ? like "Reservoir Dogs" and "Hand It Down"(Memphis Bleek bringing your album in??? Lmaooo) "If Should Die" ....ehhhhhh a WESTSIDE ? just can't get jiggy with that production ...ironically "It's alright" is one of my favorite produced Jay Tracks ....that talking heads flip ..woo ..? is crazy

Aquemini was just a perfect album tho ....I mean just a plug a play ....more diverse lyrically and musically while not falling too far into that "experimental" box .... Them baselines ....

....? made me want to be a country bumpkin tocry.png...FUUUUGGGGHHHHHH ..

..I mean overall Jay had the hits but Kast had the better overall project ...that ? took you everywhere musically ....Raekwon over some country toons? .....stopppp it

In Volkswagens and Bonnevilles Chevrolets and Coupe De Villes If you ain't got no rims ? don't get no wood grain Steering wheel for real you can go on chill out & still build Let your paper stack instead of going into overkill Pay ya ? beeper bill ? !
Twice upon a time there was a boy who died lived happily ever after but that's another chapter Live from home of the brave with ? dollars And beauty parlors & baby bottles and bowling ball Impalas And street scholars that's majoring in culinary arts You know how to work bread cheese and dough From scratch but see the catch is you can get caught Know what ya sellin' what ya bought so cut that big talk....

    Jay-Z Vol. 2
Outkast dropped a classic that year, BlackStar is immortally dope, but that Jay-Z Vol 2...

It's not a classic, but I replay the songs from this album more than I do Aqumeni and BlackStar. Vol 2 was just gutter. Reservoir Dogs is one of my favorite rap posse cuts. Vol 2 is what made me a Jay Z fan (lol in elementary school)

I bought Aquemeni the day it dropped, I was in the 11th grade and in a deep No limit/UGK phase. This album was a breath of fresh ? air!!! Best album Kast ever dropped in my opinion.

Capital Punishment was the best album that dropped 1998 but if I had to pick from your poll it's Black Star.

If I'm not mistaken between Vol. 2 and Aquemini theyve sold 8 million copies to date released on the same day. Think about that for a second.

Sales does not matter. Illmatic is 1xplat and still consider as the GOAT album.

Aquemini is one of the very best albums ever made. Volume 2 is borderline wack.

    Corrected for accuracy

i actually still listen to aquemini..
    and im somewhat bias..

my older weird ass cousin got me into Outkast when i was younger.. so oldschool kast always takes me back..

i can barely even bump That Jay album..
to me blueprint is what separates Jay like old testament and new.. and sorry... but old testament jay really aint all that..

Back then: Outkast > Vol 2 > Blackstar

    Now: Outkast > Blackstar > Vol 2

Kast and black star can be played straight through. Nuff said.

I have love for all these albums but volume 2 isn't that strong imo. To me, Jay was trying to make radio friendly mainstream hits that sucked. That kid voice sample ? was and is lame af to me. Same goes for "Can I get a...". His street ? was really good on that album though. I still listen to originator 99, coming of age and it's alright.

Jay should not have more votes than black star. Also atcq's the love movement and brand Nubian's foundation were both released that day. Although not classics. Good albums tho

Brand Nubian's Foundation is a classic.

    Love Movement was a dud.

I can agree with that about brand nubian. Never said love movement was classic. Their heart wasn't in that project
