Fox 2000 is ready for another serving of Soul Food.

The studio is planning a sequel called More Soul Food, based on the 1997 ensemble film.

George Tillman Jr., who wrote and directed the original, is writing the new script with Nathan Skulnik. Tillman's State Street Pictures will produce along with Tracey and Babyface Edmonds.

The original film, starring an ensemble cast that included Vanessa Williams, Vivica A. Fox, Nia Long, Michael Beach and Mekhi Phifer, followed a close-knit African-American family who had a tradition of eating a big dinner together every Sunday. But their bond begins to fall apart after the death of their matriarch.

The film, which earned $43.7 million, also spawned a Showtime TV series, Soul Food: The Series, which aired from 2000 through 2004.

The sequel will chronicle the new, millennial generation of the Joseph family. In the age of cell phones and social media, the once-close clan finds themselves disconnected and, without the guidance of the elders who have always held things together, they struggle to rediscover the importance of tradition and family.

Greg Mooradian will oversee for Fox 2000.

Wonder if it'll tie into the TV series or just straight skip it.
